Just the beginning of this plate's journey. Underglaze pigment decorated on a raw pot. Destined to have lustre so the image isn't complete, but I like how it's looking so far.

All our tiles are made by hand. We have tried various methods but this works best.
Starting off by squaring the extrusion then bashing ( very technical term) the clay to get it moving. Then pulling the clay, a technique first demonstrated to me by . Finally rolled out before using a tile cutter and stacking to dry.

One of Kerry's tiles on a red ground we created about a year ago. I takes a long time between testing a colour and learning how best to use it. This is especially true when the colour has sivler or copper in it because the metal in the colour can drown out the lustre decoration on the colour.
