URBAN SKETCHING IN PEN & WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP
SATURDAY 11TH JULY
with CHARLOTTE BRIGHTWELL
This is to let you know about our forthcoming workshop with Charlotte Brightwell focusing on using fine-liner pens to fluidly create an urban scene, which will be embellished with a watercolour wash to bring it to life.
Charlotte is a talented local artist, who runs a variety of classes & workshops and has a wide following. She loves to inspire and nurture others to develop their artistic skills in a positive and supportive environment.
Urban sketching with line and wash technique is used to capture the world around us and is an efficient way of working, allowing you to sketch while working en plein air, but later refer to a photograph for reference for a colour wash. Its expressive nature encourages a looser way of working. It is a flexible technique allowing you to either sketch first, or paint first, which will lead to a different feeling or effect. The use of a pen allows you to capture a scene quickly. The contrast between line and wash is complimentary: the line providing the structure and the paint, being applied loosely, provides the atmosphere. Aesthetically, line and wash creates a beautiful approach to sketching.
This is open to member and non PACS member.
You can also put these useful skills into practice at our regular PACS sketch-outs.
