Today’s job in the studio

We had quite a lot of buttons so I’m trying to sort them and find a place to put them.

At the moment I can find space but not all together which wouldn’t be useful for finding

I have a feeling I’m going to have to do some rearranging! And there are more than in the pictures 🙈

Another strange interest for me this year was starting to photograph moths & butterflies that were using my house as a stop off
It started with one of those sitting on a pink towel. 1 became 5 and they lived in my bathroom for months. Occasionally they popped into the hall!?
I was told they were Meal moths but looking that up suggests they weren’t.
Can you name all the others?
Found out most of the names & there is one photo of one of many dragonflies & damselflies that I get in my garden
Have you had this years ubiquitous Hummingbird Hawk Moth which have been all over our Salvias
What I haven’t put here are photos of other beasties that have wandered across our house & the year isn’t over yet

I thought I’d spend some time just knitting, something I didn’t get time to do when I had the shop

I spent some time I un-wangling the numerous ends of mohair, reading the pattern to check what was next, and I got 3/4trs through my first row when I noticed a pair of soulful brown eyes looking at me next to my legs.

I should have ignored her, I should not have given a few strokes and spoken to her, I should know better.

Went to pick up my knitting and with a quick leap she squished herself next to me. She like to be hugged hard so that was knitting over!

And yes mini moo thought that was her cue to take a flying leap & stuck herself between her & me

So knitting is over 😢
No 3 is being sensible in the window where the sun is

Pigeon babies

Over winter when the magnolia tree & clematis was bare I noticed an empty nest and guessed it was a pigeon’s nest.

We have many wood pigeons around & I was surprised how sturdy it was for them.

I didn’t expect it to be used again

The Magnolia blossomed & filled out. The clematis Montana blossomed & filled out and the nest was hidden.

About 10 days ago I was pithering ( is there such a word or did my Grandfather make it up) about in the garden under the tree when I noticed an eye 👁️

She (guessing) was watching me intently but she didn’t move. I kept away but checked daily from the path if she was still there. Had no idea when she started

I was distressed when I found a v young chick dead on the path. Seemed quite a way from the nest so not sure if it was hers. Plus at that point she was sat still on the nest

BUT, yesterday no parent but 2 fluffy heads peered out at me.

Definitely 2 but didn’t want to get near to check if there were more.

Naughty !
Some of you may remember we’ve had some major building work over the last 18months. Some still to be finished like that door & a few others are being replaced

The new kitchen area is basically finished so I’ve put items back and other ones moved into it

Yes that’s right 2 vintage chairs are now in place covered because I thought ‘just in case’

Good job I did as some, namely 1 aka the asbo dog, seem to think it’s for them !

This photo was a couple of days ago but I’ve since found her on this one and the other one 😡

Action will have to be taken! 😂

Some of you may know Jess ( not on sm, her mum is)
We’ve got a little used to Jess arriving in some amazing costumes and I think if you looked back on my page there are more pics of her.

This morning we had a Saturday Social yarn & yak at the HampshirehogPO8 Clanfield

Jess said as she was in such esteemed company she thought she would put her best on. Help I need to up my game 😀

Jess is an amazing crocheter and we first became aware of her talent when she sat quietly crocheting a 6’ dragon! It was amazing . There is a photograph on my page but it didn’t really do it justice due to the space available in the shop.

There’s also a photograph on here of the most cuddly spider I’ve ever seen which she also made . It was probably 2-3’ in diameter

Today Jess was making one of 15 elephants she has been commissioned to make. This time she’s gone tiny as they are for key rings for a canal trust.

Our next Saturday meet is August 1st. What will Jess be wearing next & crocheting I wonder!

Summer news
Well if I don’t tell anyone no one will know.

I am now selling a few of my plants (there will be more) some of the haberdashery we had in the shop and some yarns. The yarn stock will be changing soon so lots of offers on existing stock.

Due to parking around my house , ie very little, I am using an appointment system so if you’d like to visit do let me know and we can sort out a time to suit and I can give you directions and info of where to park

Knit pro has changed it’s brand to KnitPro 2 , catchy name 😂 because of this there will be 20% off existing stock as new will have a price increase

At the moment I can’t offer refreshments but hope to soon but if the weathers nice do bring a drink as we have somewhere to sit outside
