A late start to "wedding season" for us this year. This time last year, we were about to tick off Wedding No. 3 and this year, another month to go before Wedding No. 1.

We had to all the way to 2019 to find our last July wedding and what a memory of a lovely, lovely day it was.

If you're making plans for later in the year, next year or even 2028, let us know. We love to discuss weddings and would be delighted to host yours at Elton Hall.

Another couple of days of opening to the public are ahead of us.

We're considering the "will it/won't it" weather forecast and hoping for this colour sky so our visitors can enjoy the garden without umbrellas after their tours through the Hall.

There are tickets available on guided tours from 2.00pm tomorrow and Thursday.

Nearly time to start topiary trimming, then hedge trimming ... interspersed with grass cutting because it's been raining. Summer marathon jobs in the garden are about to begin.

It's been Volunteers Week this past week.

Although our lovely team of House Guides and Stewards are not volunteers, it seems a good opportunity to sing their praises. Unfailingly cheerful, full of knowledge and enthusiasm and always quick to step in to fill a gap in the mystery that is the summer staff rota.
