Well, I never! It's Chris Akrill parading onto the stage as the one and only Chief Yellowcoat and Radio Maplin announcer, Gladys Pugh!

Chris is one of the founding members of YAP, alongside her husband Eric, and has appeared in countless productions over the years. Most recently, she wowed audiences as Octavia, the wicked sea witch in The Little Mermaid. This time, Chris brings plenty of sass, sparkle and comic charm to the role of Gladys Pugh – the self-proclaimed "Vamp from the Valleys"!

When she's not pining over Jeffrey Fairbrother, Gladys can often be found at loggerheads with her camp rival, Sylvia Garnsey. Determined to prove she's got what it takes to win the Miss Yellowcoat competition and bag her man, Gladys won't let anything stand in her way. But does she have what it takes to come out on top?

🎭 Meet the Cast – Eric Akrill is Ted Bovis 🎭

Hi-de-hi! Ted can't hear you!...

Eric Akrill takes on the role of camp host Ted Bovis, and he just can't wait to scam the campers out of their hard-earned cash!

As one of the founding members of Yaxley Amateur Players, Eric has appeared in and directed countless plays and pantomimes over the years, becoming a familiar and much-loved face both on and off the stage.

Ted Bovis is the charming but scheming camp host of Maplins Holiday Camp. When his ex-wife Hilary tracks him down in search of money, Ted must find a way to raise the funds or risk prison time. Watch your wallets, campers!

With his wealth of stage experience, natural comic timing, and ability to engage an audience, Eric is sure to bring plenty of laughs and mischief to this iconic role.

🎭 Meet Our Next Hi-De-Hi! Cast Member! 🎭

Roland Pickett will play Maplin's children-hating children's entertainer, Mr Partridge (perhaps he didn't quite read the job description!).

Roland, or Roly as he's affectionately known by his friends, has been with the group since the very early days and has contributed both on stage and behind the scenes over many years. It's great to see Roly back on stage in this fantastic role. With his natural comic timing and wealth of experience, Roly is sure to bring plenty of laughs to one of Hi-de-Hi!'s most memorable characters.

Having topped the bill in variety theatre as "Whimisical W***y, the Juggling Joker" and entertained the troops during the war with ENSA, Mr Partridge's career is now well and truly on the slide. These days, the spotlight shines a little less brightly, and the bookings are a little less glamorous...

Come and see Roly bring this wonderfully grumpy entertainer to life in Hi-de-Hi!

Can you smell horses? It can only be Maplin's riding instructor, Fred Quilley, played by Peter Moorhouse. When Fred isn't stealing sugar lumps for the horses, he's longing for the day he can have his jockey's licence reinstated after losing it in a racing scandal. He shares a chalet with Punch and Judy man Mr Partridge and has to put up with his snoring.

Peter is no stranger to the stage and has been entertaining audiences for many years. His experience includes numerous YAP productions, performing as the lead singer of a band, and even working as a Redcoat himself, making him perfectly suited to life in Maplin's entertainments team. Peter brings warmth, charm and plenty of comedy to this fantastic role.

Cheryl plays Sylvia Garnsey; a Maplins' glamorous, flirtatious Yellowcoat. A qualified swimming instructor, she enjoys flirting with Jeffrey Fairbrother, and is never far from the centre of the action. Sylvia's long-running rivalry with fellow Yellowcoat Gladys Pugh, particularly over Jeffrey's affections, provides plenty of comedy throughout the play.

Cheryl is a stalwart of the group and has enjoyed many different roles on stage. Audiences may remember her as Tiffany the barmaid in last year's murder mystery and as Ariel in our pantomime The Little Mermaid.
Cheryl brings energy, experience and a smile to every production she joins.
