Which do you prefer, left or right?
There is no right answer.
I work on the painting both ways up and when I was struggling with one side, I flipped it until it was resolved. Strangely when I added the blue trumpet and a few other changes it seemed to fix the problems I was having the opposite way up.

I’m moving beyond painting musicians to painting the experience of listening.
This work is built from fragments, rhythm, memory, and improvisation.
Jazz remains the spark, but I’m increasingly drawn to translating sound, movement, and atmosphere into paint rather than depicting a specific person or performance.
