🫟 Welland Makers - Crafty Meet Ups! 🫟

A crafty, making, chatty group based in .
We’ll make you a brew, whilst you make something useful or beautiful.

Join these FREE & MONTHLY creative afternoons where you make, create, and chat.

Welland Makers will be hosted by the little team of Orton Makers, which is a craft group that has been running for nearly four years over in Orton. (And was set up with Peterborough Presents originally) They are volunteers with busy lives, but they also have a passion for sharing easy, accessible, fun and different crafting.

They encourage people to try new things with no worries about failing, and in safe and enjoyable meetings.
These sessions are open to everyone, whether you knit, carve, glue, draw, or make.

You are welcome to bring along a personal crafting project. But, if you don’t have anything to bring but fancy having a go at making something, then there will be an activity for you to try. You can also come along if you just want to meet others for a chat.

No experience necessary, just an interest or curiosity in making / craft. We will provide the materials, tea, coffee, and biscuits.

We are so excited about this new Installation.

Kashmiri Gharbaar is an insight into the daily life of Kashmiri & Pakistani furnishings, customs and traditions. Installation designed and curated by Robina Akhtar, supported by Peterborough Presents. Inspired by Robina’s grandparents’ courtyard and homestead, the installation will give a nostalgic glimpse into the life of first generation elders in rural and working class villages and farms, as well as an insight into both historic and present everyday lifestyles.

Expect a vibrant and creative collection of colourful South Asian objects and patterns, many of which handmade by local residents or their families back home.

Alongside this beautiful display, we’ll have a traditional activity for you to have a go at. Details to be announced soon.

When:
Friday 11th September, 2:30-8pm.
Saturday 12th September, 10am-4pm.

Where: OUTSIDE of the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery, Priestgate, Peterborough city centre, PE1 1LF.

Cost: It’s all FREE!

Whilst you’re visiting the installation and feeling nostalgic, why not share your stories with us to be part of an exhibition in Peterborough Museum in November 2027! Throughout the installation our team will be capturing clips of people sharing their memories and stories of Pakistan, Kashmir, from the routes of migration to the roots of settled communities across Peterborough. Pop along to find out more!

Supported by Peterborough Museum & Peterborough Cultural Alliance. Part of the national Heritage Open Days.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year for 10 days in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It offers the public a chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences - and it’s all FREE.
