What an achievement! BATS Next Gen Summer School created a stunning production of Sister Act in just 14 days.

This incredibly talented group of young performers wowed their audience with performances that were remarkably mature, confident and full of energy. They captured every ounce of the humour, delivered the harmonies with real flair and tackled the choreography and dance moves with style and enthusiasm.

A fantastic showcase of talent, commitment and teamwork. Congratulations to everyone involved – you should be immensely proud of what you achieved in such a short time!

Immediately after Summer School I travelled to Buxton to represent NODA at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival for 3 days meeting up with NODA members at every opportunity.

Since returning from Buxton there has been a day of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Brighton Theatre Group in the afternoon and Calamity Jane with Kenley Holiday Workshop in the evening - both award winning societies on many occasions. A day full of joy amongst the NODA families.

You may have wondered where the President has disappeared to over the past few weeks or maybe not!

The start of NODA Theatre Summer School began for the committee including me on Thursday 29th July and we found ourselves within the bubble through to 8th August - On the last afternoon I spoke to the assembled School after they had shared the results of their week of hard work. The afternoon was a glorious celebration of everything the students had studied, learnt and put into practice. It would be wonderful if many others could experience and discover the magic that was shared throughout the week.

Newcastle Musical Theatre Company - Guys & Dolls

The journey of the President continues to take me to a wide variety of venues, from small village halls to magnificent theatres such as the Theatre Royal in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is a splendid venue, steeped in history and possessing a wonderful sense of grandeur and glamour.

I was honoured to be joined by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle for a joint photograph with the cast, which made the occasion even more memorable. I also particularly enjoyed chatting with members of the cast, especially the two youngest performers, whose enthusiasm and excitement perfectly reflected the spirit of the production.

The vibrancy of the performance at the Devonport Playhouse was a testament to the depth of talent within the City of Plymouth Theatre Company. In this entertaining jukebox musical, The Band, an outstanding group of young men brought the music of Take That to life with energy, charisma and confidence.

Supported by a committed and talented company, the cast worked tirelessly to create an atmosphere that balanced humour, friendship, emotion and authenticity.

Their enthusiasm and commitment shone throughout, ensuring the audience was rewarded with a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable performance.

Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society - The Tempest - 23.07.26

What a privilege it was to sit amongst the ‘yard’ audience and experience RADS production of The Tempest. in the glorious Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, Yorkshire.

From the very first scene, the creative exploitation of the theatre space was striking, with the action extending beyond the stage to immerse the audience completely in Shakespeare's magical world. The talented cast drew all various aspects of the story together so effectively.

The clever lighting took us swiftly from a ship in a storm to Prospero's cell and various island locations.

Perform Chepstow - Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - 25.07.26

The glorious melodies, colour and drama all flourished on the stage in Chepstow for Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The cast and creatives gave us an inclusive multilayered, expressive and beautiful production which the audience thoroughly appreciated.

Perins School Theatre - Grease the Musical - 17.07.26

Almost guaranteed the weather for these events is HOT!

This year was no exception. The transformed school sports hall was host to over 100 youngsters from both the primary and the secondary schools with a community band and choir supporting them. Grease the Musical and its wonderful tunes reverberated around the campus amid the joyful and creative dancing - smiles and laughter all around the campus.

StagedRight Youth Theatre

A beautiful day, a grand marquee, and an exceptionally talented cast and crew. The photograph afterwards outside was so refreshingly cool. Despite performing in layers of costumes, the cast showed no signs of the heat - it was only the audience who felt it!

StagedRight did themselves proud throughout their performance of Annie.

Crash Bang Wallop Youth Theatre - Seussical - 09.07.26

The youngsters of Crash Bang Wallop certainly put everything into their performance of Seussical the musical on a very hot day. The production drew all the talent out of the cast to entertain their audience with this magical but wacky show.

From beginning to end the audience were drawn into the weird world of the Cat in the Hat, the jungle of Nool and the village of Whoville.
