Bach & Blood: Final Stop in London 🎵

Hear from Scottish Ensemble’s Artistic Director Jonathan Morton as he discusses Bach & Blood, our performance that brings together Scottish Ensemble and singers from the Chamber Choir of the National Youth Choir of Scotland NYCOS.

From the enhanced beauty of J.S Bach’s Chaconne, famously described as “the greatest structure for solo violin that exists”, to the eerie sound world of David Fennessy’s Blood, Jonathan talks through the power and process of the pieces.

Bach & Blood visited Whitekirk (Lammermuir Festival), Perth, Glasgow (Glasgow Cathedral Festival), from 16 - 18 September, and ends in London on 02 October.

That’s a wrap on the first three performances of Bach & Blood 🩸- next stop: London!

Bringing together J.S. Bach, Arvo Pärt, and Dave Fennessy’s Blood, and the voices of singers from the Chamber Choir of the NYCOS, it’s been a powerful few days of music.

Thank you for joining us at St Mary’s Church The Lammermuir Festival, St John’s Kirk Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, and Glasgow Cathedral Festival.

Not one - but two!

Two Carmina Burana in less than 9 months apart!

This time, Perth Boys were joining forces with Dundee Regional Choir so we got to sing with one of our neighbour choirs which was a treat! So lovely to see Alumni boys from our choir too!

NYCOS 30th tour did not disappoint. Choir were excellent, vibrant and as always, professional.

Our regional choirs rose to the challenge and made me very proud tonight!

Looking forward to seeing you all back - and hopefully some new faces - on Tuesday!

10 Years

What a journey - 10 years of directing this amazing choir and what an emotional and powerful concert it was. It called back to some of the first memories I had with the choir and ended with NYCOS flagship pieces which I sang when I worked with Christopher.

These boys make me so proud and I am delighted to have the privilege to conduct and teach them.

So many amazing memories and there are many more to come.

CONCERT DAY!

Can all members of Junior, Intermediates and Senior Choir arrive at 6pm tonight.

For some of you this 30 minutes earlier than usual however, concert starts at 7pm sharp and we need a few warm ups and runs.

Looking forward to seeing those shiny shoes and smart uniforms.
