The next audio installaton in the Tin Coast commission - Crosscut Dispersed series is underway. This centres around the Ball Mills located at Geevor Tin mine. This work will once again fuse technical knowledge with working day life stories. Some may be surreal and funny but always real. The voices in the work will come from as nearby as Pendeen and as far away as New Zealand.

As Artist in Residence at Geevor Tin Mine my first impressions of The Ball Mills were that these were formidable iron clad machines, but also that they have become monuments to another age. I was excited about how I was going to bring these to life with the voices of their original operators. See following post to hear a clip of these voices.

The next audio installation of my Tin Coast commission has started. Like all the work in the Crosscut Dispersed series it will fuse technical knowledge with the everyday stories of working life, some surreal and funny but always real. It will refer to the incredible iron clad Ball Mills and the people who worked on them right up until the 1990's. These people are joining the project from as near as St. Just and as far away as New Zealand.
