Sketchbook page dedicated to medieval pilgrim badges of a specifically...anatomical nature. Nobody seems quite sure what the original intention was behind these designs, whether devotional or satiral, but either way I love them. I mean, look at them!

I went for a long walk for my birthday earlier this year (40 days for 40 years) and a dear friend gifted me a pin version of one of these on my return which made me a very happy hiker indeed. I don't know that I could have been said to be on a "pilgrimage" - I certainly wasn't following a saint's road or heading for a holy place. Except, if the wilder places, the frog-bejewelled bogs, the rushing rains and rivers, birds and sky and valley and pass might be considered holy in a secular sort of way. Then maybe I was?

Hello, I really only seem to use socials these days to share silly memes with my loved ones, but I've come skulking back to a post, and make an announcement/request of sorts. Which is: after only 10 years or so of dithering about it, I have finally decided I would love actually to train as a tattoo artist. I would like to find an apprenticeship with a studio in Cornwall, ideally within a 1 hour drive of the Falmouth/Penryn area. I am putting together a portfolio and making a list of potential studios, but would love to know if anyone out there has any recommendations? Thank you!

Some drawings for a cider label commissioned earlier this year. The final design (to be unveiled soon) ended up a little looser, with withered winter leaves. I feel like I could have fun making a pattern with some of these elements, any suggestions for apps or software that can be used to create pattern designs?

Happy advent! With December's arrival I am willing to acknowledge that the great winter feast approaches. Whether you celebrate Christmas with church and carols or Yule with a roaring fire and more secular songs, or have your own way of keeping the feast, can we all agree that it is nice to be merry at the dark end of the year?

Once again I am about to take up a seasonal position at a certain well known bookseller, which means the annual listening to what feels like interminable hours of online courses reminding me How Not To Be An Idiot/Bigot/Fraudster/etc. Which means I am crafting leaves out of copper and those lovely shiny discs of gold coated aluminium they package chocolate coins in while listening to aforementioned courses to stop myself getting completely distracted. Who else has to be doing something with their hands or they stop listening (to online courses, phone conversations, audio books, radio shows, the interesting as well as the dull)? I fancy making some ancient Grecian style wreaths/tiaras, or maybe a hanging decoration.

Dropping back into posting for the first in months (I mainly use social media for cartoons and animals videos) to show off my proof copy of Small Fires by , featuring my map of the nameless island. I've just started reading it and may I say, folk who into creepy, gothic, folkloresque literature are in for a treat when it's published by next year!
