Hi Folks, the weather is looking dry for tomorrow so I think out small socially distanced meet up can go ahead. If we meet at Glasney Field at 2pm, that would be great. It will just be lovely to exchange books and have a face to face meet. I'm unable to provide drinks, but do bring a flask if you wish.

Hi All, I am wondering how people would feel about having a socially distanced gathering next Sunday afternoon (30th Aug) from 2-4pm in Glasney Field in Penryn to mark the end of the project? I have the books I need to return and thought it might be nice for some of us to meet face to face and say hello. If people don't feel comfortable doing this I completely understand and would be happy to post the books as I have been. If you see this and could let me know what you would prefer that would be great. Kindest, Laura ###

Good morning everyone! Thank you all so much for the wonderful creations you have made so far. I was blown away by your responses to the theme of 'home' and receiving your books back through my door gave me such a lift. I have now redistributed all of the books, so you should of all received a different one with the theme for this round which is LOVE. Again just do what you can and don't over think it. It should hopefully be fun and enjoyable and not something else you feel you've got to do as well as possible, at this stressful time. I will also be sharing some of the creations on here, over the next few weeks so you can all see what you've been doing. Stay safe and wishing you all a lovely weekend ahead. Laura x

Hello everyone, I hope you've all had a positive week. I'm really exited to report that the first few books have made their way back to me and are looking absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait so share some of the content with you soon. If you haven't already done so, then please do get your book back to me by 18th May so I can then re-distribute them with the second theme. Hello and Welcome!

Creative Snail Mail is a free postal art project, taking place in Penryn, that aims to connect people in the community through creativity and kindness. The project involves working collaboratively in sketchbooks that will be distributed to participants homes, resulting in a chain of creativity that is fun and engaging and brings joy to people's days. The project has been kindly funded by FEAST and is going to take place from May-July to help give a focus during the current COVID:19 pandemic. It is open to all ages and no previous experience of art is needed to join in.

Once signed up, each person will receive a welcome pack through the post, which includes an overview of the project, a sketchbook, some collage materials and a self-addressed pre-paid envelope. They will then be invited to fill in the first few pages of their sketchbook, responding in anyway they like (drawing, painting, short story, poem) to the first theme. The collage materials can be used, but participants will also be encouraged to use any other materials they may have at home such as pens, paint, fabric or paper.

Once complete they will then post their books back to me, within the set time frame, and I will then distribute them on to someone else with a new theme for the next stage. This process will happen several times over a 2 month period, depending on how many participate, before each person gets their original book back which has been filled with creations from me and others taking part.

The page will be a place for people to connect further, if they would like, and will also act as a gallery space where I will upload pages from the books to inspire and share ways of working.

It is also my hope that at the end of the project (and when it is safe to do so) all of the participants can get together for a celebratory event, to bring the books that have been made to share with one another and connect face to face.
