How fantastic is this banner made by children at BlueJam as part of our Songs of Stone and Water project?! We can't wait for our Creative Gathering tomorrow (Sunday 21st June) at Penrith Castle itself, where we will be drawing, writing and listening to live music together, alongside hearing local poets read heritage-inspired poems. All are welcome - we'd love to see you there from 2pm 🏰🌳

On Sunday 28th June from 10am to 3:30pm we are hosting a free Singing Tips and Tricks session at BlueJam Arts Space for teachers, youth leaders, parents, carers and anyone else who is interested in using singing with children and young people.

Led by experienced singing leaders and professional musicians Jilly Jarman and Bryony Jarman-Pinto, the day will include practical workshops on introducing a creative approach to warming up, how to choose and adapt songs, tips to protect your vocal health, how to learn songs with and without harmonies or backing tracks and how to lead group singing.

Creative childcare is provided to enable grown ups to attend.

Attendance is free but booking is essential. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to come along.

On 21st June, midsummer day, join us at Penrith Castle from 2pm-4:30pm for a creative gathering as part of our Songs of Stone and Water project, kindly funded by English Heritage. We will draw, write and listen to live music, alongside hearing local poets read heritage-inspired poems. Remember to bring a picnic! Bad weather? No matter - we'll have our creative gathering at BlueJam Arts Space instead ☺

Happy Monday! Here's what's on at BlueJam this week. We're particularly looking forward to our Creative Gathering at Penrith Castle from 2-4:30pm on Sunday where we will draw, write and listen to live music together, alongside hearing local poets read heritage-inspired poems. All are welcome. Remember to bring a picnic!

We're also pleased to say that some of the artwork from our Songs of Stone & Water project will be part of the “My Name is Eden” writers’ exhibition at Penrith Library. You'll be able to see this from Wednesday ☺

We are so looking forward to our free Great Big Green Week event on Saturday (drop in 10:30am-1pm) in the Poetry Garden at our arts space in Penrith. Alongside our live music plus seed, plant and book swap, we're delighted to have Joanna Mlynarczyk, local artist and illustrator, with us. Joanna will be guiding us to use twigs and twine to make hanging baskets and tree hangings for our Poetry Garden. We can't wait! The activities are suitable for both adults and children and there is no need to book - just turn up.

Happy Monday! Here's what's on at BlueJam this week. Please note that there is NO BabyJam or MiniJam on Tuesday - big apologies, we'll be back as normal next week. We've got an exciting Saturday coming up this weekend, with a Great Big Green Week Poetry Garden Celebration in the morning (all welcome, drop in from 10:30am to 1pm) then from 6-9pm an evening of heritage-inspired creativity, including poetry, film, sound and shadow play.
