Skelton Show Field This is the Skelton Show Field page. The Show Field is set in beautiful parkland next to Hutton in the Forest, the historic home of Lord & Lady Inglewood

The Skelton Show Field is home the famous Skelton Show held on the first Saturday in July and to numerous of popular events throughout the year, including Cumbria Horse Trials, The Wigton Dog Agility Show, Lakeland Historical Vehicle Show, Potfest in the Park and many others.

Skelton Show is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Sponsorship Secretary as we gear up for our 2025 event on Saturday 5th July – yes, the countdown is on!

This key role works closely with our voluntary committee and sectional secretaries to help drive the show’s success.

To make things easier, we’ve invested in Showing Scene software—full training provided!

Skelton Show is looking to recruit two new secretaries to fulfil important roles as we prepare for next years show on Saturday 5th July 2025 - yes, the countdown has already begun!

New Chair Nina Oxley and Vice Chairman, Derek Wilson are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their new dynamic team. A new treasurer has now been found but a new general secretary and sponsorship secretary are now being urgently sought. Working closely with the committee and in particular, the sectional secretaries, these important roles are significant to contributing to our success so in this role you would really be making a difference.

To assist these roles, the society is also investing in Showing Scene software (the market leader in their field for managing events). Once populated this system will both make these jobs easier and ensure our data is accurate, consistently stored and kept up-to-date. Full training will be given.

Nina said "Skelton Show is one of the most successful shows in Cumbria and prides itself on being organised by an enthusiastic group of volunteers. We are investing and this is a great opportunity to join our dynamic team to help secure a future for this popular local agricultural show."

💔It is with great sadness that we remember the service of our faithful secretary Antonia Reid.

John Slee, Show Director says "For 22 years she has guided and cajoled us as she carried out the many unseen duties that are so important to the smooth running of a show. We had many happy times together sometimes over a glass of wine, as we cross checked to ensure everything was covered. She had so many contacts and will be sorely missed. She has left the show big boots to fill.

It was lovely that she was able to attend this year’s show and judge the mounted fancy dress class. Horses have played a massive part in her life.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tarn, Michael and the family as they come to terms with their untimely loss. May she rest in peace."

So the question we’ve been asked most today is “what’s the Show Field like?” Well we’re very pleased to report that despite a rainy morning, the sun came out this afternoon and the field is dry and in good condition. We’ve got most of the marquees in place now and the weather is set to be dry and sunny tomorrow, so we’ll be able to get the “big stuff” on without any problems. We just need everyone to pray for a fine day on Saturday and we’ll have a fantastic 😁😁🍻🍻⚽️🍻☀️

Busy night on the Show Field setting out the sheep pens. A brilliant turnout of Skelton Young Farmers Club meant the work was done in no time and tomorrow it will be “all hands on deck” getting ready for the big day on Saturday 😁😁
