Pen*stone Arts Week PAW

Pen*stone Arts Week (PAW)’s lion cub, designed by competition winner Grace Ryan of St John’s Primary School, is now proudly on display in Tesco alongside the wonderful cubs created by Springvale School and Pen*stone Church FC.

Our cub, Nala, raised an incredible £950 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, matching the success of her sisters. Combined with this year’s £200 raffle donation to Pen*stone Gateway Club, a £50 donation from our annual Book Trail, and £750 raised by Pen*stone Arts Collective for the St John’s Church roof fund, PAW’s charitable giving this year reached an amazing £1,950.

When we add in the many other donations generated through events held at our fantastic hosts, St John’s Church, the total contribution is likely well in excess of £2,000. And with Poppies with Purpose coming in November, who knows what we can achieve next?

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Pen*stone Arts Week, Pen*stone Arts Collective and our fundraising efforts. Together, you continue to make a real difference in our community. ❤️🦁🎨

LIGHTING/PHOTOGRAPHY KNOW HOW NEEDED

Hi, we’re looking for a little help. You may have seen we’re putting on an art exhibition to raise funds for RBL Poppy Appeal and our hosts St John’s Church’s Roof Fund. It’s from 2-14 Nov and we’d love to have the outside and inside of the church lit up in remembrance with projected images such as poppies.

PS: We are a community group raising funds for charity and sadly have no budget for this event.

The response to our call-out for ‘Poppies With Purpose’ has been incredible, with 45+ local artists, makers, musicians, filmmakers and creatives already interested in taking part.

This won’t just be an exhibition — it’s becoming a creative community response to remembrance, peace, hope and reflection.

Running 2nd–14th November at St John’s Church, Pen*stone, the exhibition will support both RBL Poppy Appeal and St John’s Church Roof Fund.

We’re inviting creatives of all kinds to get involved — whether through art, music, poetry, handmade work, installations or community projects. Traditional or contemporary, bold or subtle — all interpretations are welcome (no nudity).

We’d also love to hear from schools, community groups, knitters, crocheters, crafters, bakers and local businesses who’d like to help us creatively transform the church with poppies, displays and collaborative ideas.

Artists can either:• Donate artwork fully, or• Donate 30% of exhibition sales to the charities.

🌺 CALLING LOCAL ARTISTS & MAKERS 🌺

We’re inviting local creatives of all kinds to take part in a special Poppy-Themed Exhibition at St John’s Church, Pen*stone this October/November.

As a fringe event to Pen*stone Arts Week, this exhibition will honour Poppy Day through art—celebrating remembrance, reflection, and community.

🖌️ What we’re looking for:
Original artwork or handmade pieces inspired by the poppy theme—interpret it your way. Painting, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, crochet, floral art, anything beautiful … all welcome.

❤️ Giving back:
Artists will donate a proportion of sales, helping raise funds for:
• Royal British Legion
• St John’s Church Roof Fund

📍 Exhibition Venue: St John’s Church, Pen*stone
📅 Dates: October/November (dates to be confirmed)
🎨 Who can apply: Local artists & makers of all abilities
