A year ago, when we opened Stormborn Games, this is exactly why we did it.
Matthew has been part of the Stormborn Games journey almost from the very beginning, coming into the shop not long after we first opened. He's an incredibly sweet lad who has really embraced Warhammer and found a hobby he genuinely loves.
Like many people, busy environments can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for him, but that never stops him trying. He still comes down when he can.
This week, after the shop had closed, Tom and I had the pleasure of spending some time playing Warhammer with Matthew and his brother to help celebrate his 18th birthday. Afterwards, we received a lovely message from his mum thanking us for giving him the opportunity to play in a quieter environment where he could relax, enjoy the game, and simply have fun.
Moments like this remind us that Stormborn Games has never just been about selling cards, miniatures, or board games. It's about creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable, accepted, and able to enjoy the hobbies they love.
Seeing Matthew smiling, laughing, and having a great time made the extra time and effort more than worthwhile.
Happy 18th Birthday, Matthew. We're proud to have watched your love for the hobby grow over the last year, and we look forward to many more games in the future.
