Concert on Saturday 7 December

Well done to all those who took part and those who organised behind the scenes. It was a great concert and a very happy evening with a most enthusiastic audience. Thanks also to those who sang on Sunday afternoon at Dovecot. The residents really did enjoy our visit. You can all now relax for a few weeks until we return on 7th January in the Eastgate Studio at 7.15 pm.

To Singers (from Musical Director) ..............

Thanks for all the hard work you have put in recently to get us to the concert on 7th December. I thought it might be helpful if you knew how I intend to complete our rehearsals. I am very confident that we will put on an excellent concert. You should have received an email to which I have a attached the current draft programme which will allow you to order your music. It is not set in tablets of stone yet, but it won’t be far away. We will not be singing Carol Medleys 2 and 3 at this concert.

• Next week (19th November) I intend to spend time on “Finlandia” and the new Sibelius piece (Carol Medley 4) – “The frost engraves all the window panes”, so that we are more confident about them. There will be time to sing through other pieces as well.

• The following week (26th November) I will need some time later on (maybe 8.45) with the men only to prepare “How brightly beams the morning star”. The practice will end a bit early for the ladies. We will sing as much of the programme as we can that night.

• The last week (3rd December) we are in the MacFarlane Hall at the usual time. We will use the evening getting used to the different acoustic of the hall and will try to sing as much of the programme as we can. We will also sort out where everyone will sit.

• On Saturday 7th December we will have a warm-up in our places at 6.30 for half an hour, so that the doors can open at 7 pm.
