My diary is officially CLOSED until after my maternity leave!

I have had to reduce my working hours over the next few weeks due to severe PGP while working (thank you SO much again to all those who volunteered to postpone until after my maternity so I could work less/shorter days or create gaps for rest between clients 🫶🏼)

I do have some spaces left for laser so I’ll keep those live on the booking link https://lucidshadow.book.app/ as they’re super short appointments but other than that my diary is now closed & I’m no longer taking inquiries

I do have some outstanding inquiries to get back to so will do that soon to either line you up for after my maternity or discuss referring you to or .tattoos

Thank you SO much to all of your continued interest in coming to see me & I hope you’ll all come back to see me when I am ready to reopen my diary 🤞🏼

I have a loose plan to come back to do laser only part time from January onwards so those on courses aren’t waiting too long as appointments are short so I can get a good few clients into an hour here or there depending on childcare & routine situation, I might be able to do the odd PMU top up for existing clients or scar revision too

I am planning to take at least 6 months off tattooing because I find it mentally much more taxing with the admin/design side of it (I don’t get to leave tattooing at work like I can with laser or PMU), & my capacity for working hours will very much depend on how our routine is with little man (I’m a lover of a routine but you just never know how it’ll go!), how breastfeeding is going 🤞🏼 & childcare etc. I might be able to come back for the odd small tattoo here & there sooner but I don’t want to make any promises just yet

So keep your eyes out on here for updates & I’ll be emailing those who postponed or are in the middle of laser courses as priority when I return

It feels very weird to know I’ll be off work for so long, I only took 6 weeks off when I had Seth due to finances, & it just wasn’t long enough, but I’ve been saving up for over 2 years for this maternity leave because I promised myself it would be different this time

This was going to be her “last one” at multiple different points during this & since this we’ve done a mandala on her other knee 😂

All jokes aside, always love having her in for tattoo time so hopefully she doesn’t stop yet!

A birthflower floral wrap piece for .linsley to represent her siblings

This took 5 hours (£500)

We stencilled on the individual flowers & I freehanded most of the leaves & vine/stem bits

I often like to do florals in this way, particularly if we’re wrapping around an area or filling gaps, as it allows me to ensure it flows with the contours of the body & also allows you some creative input into the design on the day 😊 this does take a bit of prep time at the start of the appointment but I think it’s worth it when it’s needed for flow & fit

Another public service announcement 📢

I’m excited & nervous about having so long off work, but after having to go back to work when Seth was just 5 1/2 weeks old because statutory maternity pay doesn’t even cover my weekly outgoings, I promised myself the next time would be different

So for the last 2 years I’ve been saving because we knew we’d want to have another one at some point & I didn’t want to have the same financial stress as last time, & so far I’ve managed to save about 6 months worth of my outgoings so that’s how long I plan to take this time

As a self employed person it’s scary to plan to take that much time off work, there are concerns that people won’t wait & will find another studio & artist & won’t come back when I’m back to work, & when this is my sole income currently, I can’t afford to be quiet when I’ve run out of maternity savings. But we don’t plan on having any more children after this one, I’ve always said I only wanted 2 kids. So this is my last chance to have this time, to savour every moment, to give my baby what he needs

I hope you’ll all come back to see me when I’m back (even if you do go to another artist while I’m off), it’ll be so lovely to see all of your faces again & catch up with all your news!

Hitting things off again with this healed floral wrap piece for with a little fresh dragonfly added in the other day

I love how the greys have softened in to create more variation and depth to this piece!

Always love anything floral and fine line 🫶🏼
