That's a wrap on Bach's St John Passion!
First of all, we'd like to pass on our warmest thanks to all our soloists and orchestra members. (I'm not going to name names, because I'll accidentally forget someone...) You did a fantastic job, and we'd love to work with you again! I spoke to lots of people afterwards who made a point of telling me you were superb. ❤️
Some more enormous thanks go to:
* All our behind-the-scenes helpers. The people who set up the stage, organise the refreshments, sort out the parking (not as simple a task as it sounds!), work front of house, create the programme, posters, flyers and tickets, deal with ticket sales and publicity, put up posters around the local area... There are loads of jobs that need to be done to put on a concert of this scale, and everything has to be coordinated and aligned. It's not an easy task, even though we try to make it look as though it is! 😉
* Everyone who supports PCS by turning up to our concerts. Whether this was your first PCS concert or your fiftieth, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed singing it for you. 😎
* All the accompanists who've stepped in to help us out this term. And also our regular accompanist, Liz Collins, who sadly hasn't been able to join us over the last few weeks – get well soon Liz, we're all thinking of you and hope to see you (and your excellent jumpers) next term! 🥰
* All our choir members who turn up week after week to work hard and rehearse so that we can put on professional-level concerts like this one. Tuesdays are the best nights of the week because we all love singing and the camaraderie, friendship and support that PCS offers. 🎶
And, last but most definitely not least, the biggest thanks go to our inimitable MD, Sara Benbow. What can I say about her that hasn't been said already? She's a source of – in no particular order – boundless energy and good humour, musical expertise, great ideas, encouragement and moral support. She always believes in us even when we don't believe in ourselves, and it's all thanks to her efforts that we're able to perform at this level. 🌟
Our next concert is promising to be great fun! We're going to be taking a trip around the world without leaving the comfort of the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel. Rehearsals start on Tuesday, and of course we'll be keeping you updated on progress as we work towards our performance on 11 July 2026. Save the date!
