🔎🔎This months Sculpture in Schools workshop was led by Eva Jack 🔦

We worked together to create dreamlike models of imaginary worlds from the past and into the future. We used words for prompts, cut and collaged then projected and presented our collaborative models at the end of the workshops! 🌞🏡✂️

A really creative day with lots of brilliant ideas and making together.

As always, thanks to St Fergus and Glencoats Primary Schools for having us, and to all the children for taking part ✨

Pics from a very fun workshop last week with S1 students at Castlehead High School as part of their Creativity Week, making collaborative coil pots for the Castlehead community garden 🌿

We started with collage-making to generate ideas and inspiration before moving into clay, resulting in some brilliant vessels full of character, colour and imagination 🌟😊

Such a creative group with loads of thoughtful and playful ideas - a joy to work with!

Time for Open House at Sculpture House 🌱

This bank holiday Monday 4th May, 12–4pm, we’ll be planting Hopi sunflowers as part of a relaxed, hands on activity, alongside all the usual open house things. You can plant your own to take home and grow too 🌻

As the growing season gets underway, there’ll be a focus on the dye garden, and you’re very welcome to come along, spend time in the space, and get involved.

Moving forward, we’re going to approach Open House a little differently. It won’t always fall on the first Monday of the month, we’ll be more responsive to holidays and seasons, and occasionally shift to Saturdays. Some sessions like this one will include family friendly workshop activities, while others will remain more informal and drop in.

James, Laura A, Laura S, Coral and Shireen will all be on site to welcome you, show you around, and help you plant a seed 🌻

A really fun workshop with Katie Orton as part of our Sculpture in Schools programme, creating a Ferguslie Frieze, exploring brands, reimagining them and inventing playful new logos and motifs. These were then collaged into garments across a shared collective scene.

So good to work at scale with the group 🌞
The “Smiky” logo was a personal favourite, a mash up of Nike, a smile and a snail 🐌👟

JOSIE KO: CLAY, CREATURES AND COLLECTIVE MAKING ✨

On 30th March, we were joined by the brilliant Josie Ko, who led a clay workshop as part of our ongoing exploration of how we can use making to tell stories about Ferguslie Park.

Together, we created local animals, part real and part imagined, from creatures and pets to more fantastical forms. We also worked collaboratively on large coiled sculptural vessels, building something together as a group.

Thank you Josie for such a joyful, playful day at St Fergus and Glencoats! 🌟
