🌱 SUMMER SOCIAL: PLOTTING & SCHEMING🌱
Saturday 29 August, 1–3pm

It’s time for our Summer Social! This year we’re heading into the Dye Garden for an afternoon of making, eating, exploring - and plotting what comes next.

We’ll be firing up the BBQ, opening up the house and studios for tours, and getting hands-on in the Dye Garden, where we’ll work together to build a simple woven maze and den with Artist and friend of the Dye Garden Martha Orbach.

We’ll also be plotting and scheming for the future of our front garden. How could we turn it into a more useful, welcoming space for the Dye Garden and our local community? Where could we plant, sit, gather, make and grow? And how can we make it more accessible and enjoyable for everyone?

Come and add your ideas, make something with us, eat something tasty, have a nosey around Sculpture House and find out what we’re up to.

🐈 WIP from Making Space

A new creation is taking shape in the studio! Edward has been working from his original drawing to create a rather brilliant cat vase.

“I’m making a cat vase that’s going to be Purrrfect (pun intentionally used) - I made my drawing first then using press moulding and hand building I’m making the structure of the cat.”

We can’t wait to see how it turns out! 🐈🏺✨

We can’t believe it’s time for our August house meeting already! Join us Wednesday 19th August 6-8pm for Playful Learning:
Imagining the future of creative spaces for learning.

Many cultural venues are closing while others are just beginning. What do we want from a cultural space? How can these spaces contribute to our understanding of the world while also benefiting our health and wellbeing?

We will map cultural spaces that have closed, then consider the language used around learning, engagement and community. After a break, we will start making, building models, before merging them. 

Sam Harley will deliver the session. She is a youth creative facilitator based in Renfrew/Glasgow. 🌱

House Meeting is shaped by and for creatives with a connection to Renfrewshire, to come together and share creative practice.🌞

✨ Join us for our fourth session of House Meeting where we’ll take part in playful activities that develop, question and discuss artworks.

Using a range of props, prompts and materials, we’ll explore different ways of approaching a crit. Together, we’ll build on ideas from previous sessions to think about how we can support, nurture and continue developing artistic practice through collaboration.

For our final session of Sculpture in Schools this term, primary 4’s at St Fergus conducted interviews with each other about some of the themes we explored in sessions together: thinking about Ferguslie Park - past, present and future. 💫

We made articles and stories for a Sculpture in Schools newspaper, chatting with people in our community, sharing stories about local wildlife and pet animals and favourite spaces. We also glazed our animal ceramics and our big collaborative pot made with ! We look forward to sharing some of the finished sculptures and the Sculpture in Schools newspaper very soon🌞✨
