We can't believe summer is coming to an end already, it's gone so quickly! ☀️ We hope you've had the summer you needed 💛

But we're getting ready to welcome everyone back in just a couple of weeks! 🎭

🍂 AUTUMN TERM: CLASSICS 🍂

This autumn, all of our groups will be exploring the theme of Classics. Together, we'll discover timeless stories, unforgettable characters and iconic performances that have stood the test of time.

From beloved children's books and traditional tales to classic plays, famous musicals and much-loved films, there'll be SO much to explore! 📚🎬🎭

They did an absolutely brilliant job, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single person involved, both on stage and behind the scenes. From performers and musicians to our tech crew, creatives, volunteers and everyone who helped make the shows happen: THANK YOU! 🫶

✨ What happened before 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'?

This summer, our DYT Rep Company are bringing an original prequel to the Palace Theatre stage.

'Hushabye' is a brand-new production devised by our young company, telling the story of the hidden children of Vulgaria. Since January, they've been building the world, creating the characters and developing the story from scratch. Since April, they've also been joined by a team of young musicians, who have written six original songs and will perform a live score on stage.

Now, after months of devising, writing, composing and rehearsing, everything is starting to come together...and we can't wait to share it with audiences.

A huge thank you to Helen Gilbert, who has guided the creative process from January to June before heading off on maternity leave. We're so grateful for everything she's brought to this ambitious project and wish her all the very best 💛

'Hushabye' will be performed at the Palace Theatre on 6 & 7 August, as the opening act for DAS' production of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Jnr!

Expect a grumpy fisherman (with a heart of gold), two baker sisters with a secret, a Revolution Song, a Major on a hobby horse... and plenty of folk harmonies 🐴
