✨Sir Bradley Marc Wiggins, is a British former professional road and track racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2016.

He began his cycling career on the track, but later made the transition to road cycling. He is the only rider to have won both World and Olympic championships on both the track and the road, as well is winning the Tour De France. He has won the leader’s jersey in each of the three Grand Tours of cycling, and held the world record in team pursuit on multiple occasions.

🥇 He won a gold medal at four successive Olympic Games from 2004 to 2016, and held the record as Great Britain’s most decorated Olympian with 8 medals.

We’re thrilled to announce the addition of four new board members for Jazz Hands CIC at the Palace Theatre in Paignton!

Their diverse backgrounds in public, private, and cultural sectors will help us focus on sustainability, partnership development and community engagement.

🌟 Meet Our New Board Members:

Claire Gibson: Expert in economic development and sustainability with over 25 years of experience. Committed to creating long-term value for our community.

Jo Loosemore: Broadcaster and curator with a passion for history and theatre. Known for producing impactful radio dramas and exhibitions.

Ian Piper CBE: Former Chief Executive with 40 years in housing and regeneration, dedicated to community development in Devon.

Carl Wyard: Head of Economy at Torbay Council, focused on sustainable growth and partnerships to enhance local economic vitality.

In addition, we’re making important changes to our management team: Deirdre Makepeace is retiring from her operational role to join the board as Director of Finance. Her eight years as Commercial Director have been invaluable, and her strategic insights will be crucial for our future. Maureen McAllister will step into the role of Chief Executive, marking a new chapter for our organisation.

✨The brand new Torbay Literary Festival is being held at The Palace Theatre, Paignton between 10th-16th August 2026, and a whole raft of famous writers will be appearing including: Georgia Toffolo, Anne Widdecombe, Oscar Wilde’s grandson Merlin Holland; superstar DJ Mike Pickering, and Christopher Biggins. The line up also includes biographer Roger Lewis, satirist Craig Brown, Princess Margaret’s former lady-in waiting Lady Anne Glenconner and novelist Kathy Lette.

He has appeared in over 50 films including ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Young Ones’, with Cliff Richard.
