At Make a Scene Theatre, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be seen, heard and celebrated. This Learning Disability Week, we're proud to provide a safe, inclusive and creative space where adults with learning disabilities can build confidence, make friendships, express themselves and shine on stage.
Every rehearsal, every performance and every smile reminds us that theatre has the power to break down barriers and bring people together. We celebrate the talents, achievements and voices of all our amazing members who inspire us every single day.

Our Tuesday evening Caterham group is back in full force after the half-term break! 🎭✨
The energy in the room was incredible tonight, and everyone was so eager to get started that we jumped straight back into rehearsals.
We can't wait to see how the show develops over the coming weeks! 🌟

Croydon Mencap are back at their happy place, The BRIT School! 🎭✨Such a lovely morning working alongside the talented BRIT School students. It’s always fantastic to see everyone learning, creating and having fun together through drama.

Today I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Flute Theatre and sitting in on rehearsals for King Leah. It was truly inspiring to see such a talented group of autistic actors bringing the work to life with such creativity, honesty and passion. The room was full of energy, focus and brilliant storytelling a real reminder of the power of inclusive theatre. Thank you Kelly and Harry for having me, I left feeling so uplifted and inspired ✨

🎄✨ Wishing all members of Make a Scene a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🌟 Today marked our last day of term, and what a lovely way to end it with our Friday group having a little Christmas party. Thank you all for such a fantastic term we’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved. We can’t wait to see you all in the New Year, with lots of exciting projects ahead! 🎭🌟

Make A Scene Theatre does not in any way support the recent announcement made by the US government regarding the cause of autism.
There is currently no proven, peer-reviewed evidence to support these claims.
We stand with leading UK autism organisations, who have released the following joint statement on this matter 👇

The US government has linked the pain reliever Tylenol – known as paracetamol in the UK – to autism. The evidence to suggest paracetamol use in pregnancy increases the likelihood of a baby being autistic is very weak and based on poorly conducted studies.

We challenge any policy that is based on unsound evidence and that could put autistic people, their families and the wider public at risk. We stand with autistic children and young people, their families and other UK autism charities to call out this dangerous misinformation.
