Well, we had a fantastic session yesterday with the weekend Warriors and Papa Nui rocking the house!

We will be back again next season with more great live music! Thank you for all the good times over the past 10 years!

And now a bit of housekeeping. Lost property. There was a grey scarf with a zip pocket left at the centre. Also there seems to have been a mixup of black/dark blue blazers that went home with the wrong owners. If anyone has one that isn’t theirs, please DM message here.

That’s all folks! for now

The Sunday Sessions last weekend was truly a special treat! With two wonderful acts.

Roger Beaujolais trio kicked off, featuring Jez Cook (guitar) and yours truly (double bass). Roger brought his soulful and healing vibes (excuse the pun) with his masterful and eloquent vibraphone playing.

There was more musical healing followed by Jackie Oates, with multiple violins, piano and her beautiful voice and songs. She was joined by Tom Crook and later by Roger and myself for a rare Beatles/McCartney song.

Here’s a few photos and hopefully a video to follow soon.

Sunday Sessions will be back in February!

The Sunday Sessions returns!

Dear Oxford music lovers, it has been three whole years since the Sunday Sessions had it’s last outing.

Lockdown put a stop to the last gig taking place, however, due to popular demand, we have brought it back!

We are very proud to bring you this special event featuring two world class musicians!

Roger Beajolais is a vibraphone virtuoso with over 40 years of experience in the business, crossing many styles across the pop and jazz world. Releasing his own albums on Acid Jazz records and performing on hundreds of releases. He is a sort out instrumentalist by all the top jazz players, performing across the globe.
Best to check out his music and his mesmerising playing here on his website:

www.rogerbeajolais.com

Roger will be playing as a trio, featuring superb local guitarist, Jez Cook.

This is a special double bill, as we are also very excited to introduce a local folk legend to our humble stage, Jackie Oates.

To quote top music journalists “Standing out from English folk’s remarkable new wave, Oates has the finest voice of all.”

She has earned a reputation as one of the country’s best loved folk performers. Racking up seven albums and collaborating with a broad range of musicians, including John Spiers (Bellowhead), Megan Henwood, Barney Morse Brown (Duotone) Ben Walker, Richard Evans etc…

She will bring a combination of songs of her own, songs made famous by folk greats and contemporary songs, all delivered with her soul soothing voice and exquisite fiddle playing.

“The soaring purity of Oates’s vocals washes through the songs leaving them like clean streets after a bout of rain”

We are all go for this Sunday, 15th March, 2-5pm @ Florence Park Community Centre to hear the mesmerising playing of Roger Beaujolais and the funky grooves of The Tropics.

In these trying times, what we need is music to feed the soul and Roger does this in ladles full. Of course, no sharing of spoons, but plenty of elbow bumping and foot shaking etc...

Tickets will be available on the door.

See below for more info and hope to see you Sunday in what will be the last of this season's Sunday Sessions
