📢✊The need for a new solidarity

25 June | 6:15 till 8:30 pm
Fusion Arts, 15 Park End St, OX1 1HH
Event open to all!

Come along for an evening of collective reading, discussions and exchange.

The 21st century has seen the dawning of popular rebellions and uprisings across all continents. As inequalities soar, and fascists and imperialists cling to power, popular resistance forces have congregated and fought back in spectacular ways.

Yet it seems international solidarity has failed to reinvent itself to meet the challenges of new alliances between autocrats and fascists. Can the political frameworks of the 20th century suffice, or is it time for us to define a new solidarity that centres the very people behind liberation struggles: a solidarity fit for our time and our challenges.

Soweto Blues 50th Anniversary

Sat 20th June, 5pm
Fusion Arts, 15 Park End Street, OX1 1HH

Join Jabu Nala-Hartley for an evening of speakers, food & drink

You are invited to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of June 16th. This day marks a powerful and defining moment in our community and in South Africa’s history.

On June 16th, the youth stood up for their right to education and confronted one of the most brutal regimes the world has ever known. Their courage reshaped our future.

Let us honour their legacy and ensure that the lessons of June 16th are never forgotten. We invite you to stand with us as we reflect, remember, and celebrate this historic day.

*** UPDATE*** Opening now on Thurs 18th June from 6pm (not Weds 17th June) Final day is Weds 24th June.

Following on from last year’s What’s Wrong With Us? this year’s exhibition will take place over Oxford’s Windrush Weekend to bring together artworks from a range of Oxfordshire artists exploring notions of home, identity and the fraught politics of belonging.

At a time of growing division between individuals and communities, this exhibition asks urgent questions: Who belongs? Who is welcomed? Where does home reside? How do histories of migration, diaspora, and nationalism continue to shape contemporary experiences of identity and exclusion?

The exhibition brings together a diverse range of practices, including painting, sculpture, installation, textiles, photography, text, performance, and film - offering multiple perspectives on the social and political realities of belonging today.

There is also a programme of free community events taking place throughout the exhibition week.

🚀Family Open Afternoon: 13 June 2026, 2-4pm
📍Museum of the History of Science, Broad Street, OX1 3AZ
🆓 Family Art Activities, all welcome!

Come and see the Exhibition of Art Work from Story Makers Arts based learning project with Larkrise and Wood Farm Primary Schools. Story of Stars Exhibition runs for one week between 13-20 June 2026.

This year’s project partnered with History of Science Museum and investigated their collection of historic astronomical instruments, which offered a framework for engaging with understanding of stars and planets, life on earth and feelings of hope.

The Story Makers’ time in the museum collections, brought learning through object handling, imagination-based movement and sound, drawing and modelling. Participants have created beautiful art work to illustrate their different responses to this experience.

📚Story Makers is an annual arts based initiative that has been running since 2011 working with children and staff selected Oxford primary schools to help them explore their creativity & emotional self-expression together and boost their confidence, all whilst supporting their learning, speech & language development and providing tonnes of fun! Fusion Arts presents “From Gaza: A Personal Story of Survival” by Ahmed Abu Aisha , a powerful series of photographs with commentary showing in the Window Galleries.

Thanks to Ahmed, Ameerah and Joie for installing, swipe through to see behind the scenes some photos!

“This exhibition does not represent our ordinary lives. Every photograph you see here was taken during the seven months I lived through the genocide in Gaza, beginning in July 2023. Please do not mistake these images as reflections of who we are in times of peace. They capture a period defined by unimaginable violence, fear, and loss. I photographed each moment because I knew I would never be able to forget it—scenes of survival, displacement, hunger, and bombing, as well as the fragile fragments of daily life that persisted around us.”

Visit “From Gaza: A Personal Story of Survival” at the Fusion Arts Window Galleries from 9th June - 12th July 2026. The galleries are available to view 24/7 and You’ll find them on Friar’s Entry, OX1 2BY
