Had the best day with yesterday exploring Suzanne Triester’s Prophetic Dreaming exhibition . The exhibition is equal parts insane analogue- digital fantasy and aesthetically stunning.

If you’re in Oxford before 3 May (exhibitions last day), I recommend visiting and getting lost for a few hours.

As Instagram has reminded me, I haven’t posted in 28 days. Work took over before Christmas and then I really needed to rest over the Christmas break. I’ve been close to burn out.

Yesterday I went into my studio for the first time in ages and saw these two pieces on the wall. They blew me away. Not because they’re good (I don’t think they are), but because of their vibrancy. They bounced off the wall. It made me wonder where my engagement with colour comes from.

I’m writing a chapter for a book on creativity and the search for self with four alumni artist teachers. Core themes emerging from our writing, making and discussions relate to the importance of acts of discovery, of being curious and playful. These pieces felt laboured when I made them, but there’s a joy in them too. They may not be my best, but they represent risk, uncertainty and commitment.

Whilst I haven’t been painting, I have been making art for the book chapter. More on that to follow.

I feel like my Chilbridge series is finally coming to an end - 10 pieces on paper and 5 on canvas - and this is my last.

The experience of focusing on one location at dusk has been extraordinary, to find one space as a meditation in mark, colour and shape. One of these pieces evokes such strong sensory memories of site, something I don’t think I’ve ever achieved before.

But it’s time to move on. This time sunrise and dawn beckons.

I’m beginning to frame my Chilbridge series, having sold two to a dear friend. These two were the first of the series and are my faves; they’re available if anyone’s interested? 😁
