LIONS V PANTHERS – DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER CALL-OUT
Brixton 1972, and the Godwin children are making moves. Neets wants to get out of school. Reggie wants to move in with his girlfriend. Suzanne wants to stop her siblings from getting into trouble. And their mum, Hortense, wants everything to be just how it used to. The Godwins navigate growing up and getting out against a background of Panthers and partying, hairdos and horseplay, and the pigeon apocalypse…
Following an unfortunate postponement of the production in Trinity 2022, Strikes Back Productions are looking for a new director(s) and producer(s) to bring this period drama to the stage in Hilary Term 2023. Whilst much of the set and costume have already been acquired for the performance, we are looking for a new creative team who can regenerate the production, bringing to it their own vision and direction.
Set to a backdrop of 70s funk, social unrest, and family chaos, Lions V Panthers promises to bring its new creative team a production featuring dance scenes, romance, domestic drama, and a flock of apocalyptic pigeons. As such, we are looking for two creatives with applicable experience who can responsibly oversee the production, bringing it to stage within budget to the best quality possible, working with a large POC cast and crew to bring a slice of Black British history to the Oxford stage. Owing to the generosity of funding bodies, ample funding has been carried over. Creatives with applicable experience are desired, although comprehensive guidance will be given to those joining the production.
We are hoping to bring Lions V Panthers to the Pilch in Hilary Term 2023.
Interested? Email [email protected] to express interest, including a brief introduction to yourself, your applicable experience, your interest in the show, and what you can bring to the role. We, Sam Spencer (Writer and Strikes Back Co-Creator) and Nathaniel Jones (OUDS Treasurer and Strikes Back Producer), will then interview candidates to discuss the roles further.
Deadline: 15th October 2022, 23:59
