I’ve just come back from the toilet to my
Messy Monday!

This is the reality of being home 24/7 with a 1.5 year old while trying to cook, clean, work and keep everyone alive.

Well I’ve completed it! Yes my washing basking is full and my house my not be fit for visitors but I have a happy and healthy family and that’s all that matters now.

I know we’re all in the same boat, well slightly different I guess but I can’t help but feel alone some days (even with my immediate family). Especially when i haven’t been able to see the people most special to me (in the same capacity).

As we enter week no. I cannot remember. I rememnise about the past weeks, months even and look at how much weight Ive gained lol, how much my ‘baby’ boy has developed and grown (he isn’t a baby anymore 😩) and how much the little things mean so much. It’s crazy and sometimes I still think of this as a dream well maybe even a nightmare.

As I cherish these next few weeks before going back to work I’ll put my paint brush down, embrace the mess and think of all the positive that have come from this unforeseen event.

Just know whether you have ditched the home schooling routine, your children are having microwave meals, you are still in your pjs gone 12 most day or the iPad is playing parent today. You are doing the best you can’t and that is ENOUGH!

We are all in this together!

EDIBLE FARM YARD SENSORY BIN! Using natural yoghurt, food colouring and cocoa powder for the pigs stuck in mud. (Swipe to see the aftermath 😳) Little miss 7months spent over 30mins exploring, as she kept going back to it. After demolishing the pond! Lol However, miss 22months had just woken from a nap and was not interested in getting hands on. So I got her to name and sound out what all the animals do. Then she played with her happy land toys. ▶️ Messy play enhances a child’s cognitive development and learning. As well as their physical development being improved!

Memories

We have entered our 4th week of isolation being away from our loved ones, the ones who we see so regularly and play huge parts in our lives and our children’s lives whether we are young or older. Mums, Dads, Nan’s and Grandads even ‘great’, friends and not forgetting our work colleagues who we spent a huge proportion of our working week with. Everyone seems even more special now this unfortunate event is upon us.

We miss them so dearly and we all can’t wait for ‘this’ to be over and for life to get back to what we may see as our norm. All we can say is we’re so thankful for many things in life, and even the little things mean so much more. We have seen so much love, support and well wishes it’s heartwarming, the world will be a better place from here on.

But the ‘little things’ that has got us through these past weeks is our little ones. We are not saying it has been the easiest of times because it defiantly hasn’t but having them around to make us laugh when we want to cry, to play with, communicate with, to watch grow and cause mischief and of course to make memories with. This has helped in ways we couldn’t have imagined.

So we’re writing letters, letters to our babies (all grown up) an explanation of what is going on in the world today; from our perspective, a Mummies perspective.

We’ll keep this letter safe and secure untill their older enough to look back and take a trip down memory lane.

Remember; we are one day close to the end

You got this Mamas 💪🏽

Safe safe, stay home! ❤️🌈

Messy Monday

Today we’re exploring Gloop!
2 cups of cornflour to 1 cup of water and an optional ‘drop’ of food colour/ essence is all you need.
Super fun, super messy!
Take this one outside, we didn’t and do I regret it? Yeah 😳

A great activities for the little ones too as it ‘taste safe’. Older children can use it to mark make, describe textures and to explore the concept of solids and liquids.
Science and messy play all in one!

Messy Monday

With Easter fast approaching we’re a little sad at the thought of not spending it with our families.
But what better way to make a c*** situation better than receiving a personalised card that you can cherish for years to come.

All ideas are from ‘Pinterest’. I would say Khalil enjoyed making them but I think I had more fun. What child doesn’t like standing in paint and walking it all over the place.

Get creating, get messy! 🐣🐥🥚

Mix, explore, experiment and get messy!

The little ones can get involved with some ‘taste safe’ baby paint. All you need it food colouring and baby porridge or natural yogurt! If you are making it with porridge make it how you usually would then add food colouring all you need is a drop, literally!
For the older children have a go at making predictions. Can they guess what colours they need to make 🟧🟩🟪🟫 have loads of resources you can download to support your learning. See pictures No.3/4.
Happy mixing!
P.S. I probably wouldn’t keep the taste safe paint pictures more than a day as they may start to smell. It’s more about getting them activity involved and engaged!

Friday Fun

This Morning we have been exploring with my Dinosaurs, I loved splashing, getting messy and having a nibble.
Add different animals, use different colours and edible resources. Of course if little ones are exploring making sure what you use is age appropriate in relation to chocking and allergies etc.
My mummy used food colouring to make the swamp and angel delight/crushed biscuit for the land.
I can confirm it was delish 😋🦕🦖

Home Schooling

With the last day/s of the non essential shops being open I can imagine you are all equipped with colouring pens, paints, paper, glue the lot; everyones house now looks more like ‘The Works’ than home. We’re all ready and in this together!
With that in mind I’d like you to remember that all children are different, unique and what one child might enjoy it may not be enjoyable or appropriate for another even children of the same age. As ‘Teachers’ we have desired outcomes but it’s so important to take your child’s lead to get to the end goal whatever road they take and however long it may take them to get there.
Children need structure and routine it makes them feel safe, secure and makes them understand what is expected of them but they also need choice, freedom and fun.
Although the next few days or months will feel longer, just think and value the memories that will be made and cherished forever.
