A journey across the fields to the trees: using the clay I took on a walk (& pushed into limestone, hawthorn & hazel) as a starting point for some charcoal/plant lake pigment prints - I like the way the marks left by the materials reference the landscape they came from 🖤 & printing with charcoal from the fire feels like alchemy

St Alfred’s Cake imbolc offering: in the spirit of our ancestors use a daldinia concentrica as a transportable fire lighter - light a fire & include a dry cake - using tongs remove the smouldering cake & put it in a tin can with some newspaper, some holes punched in it & a wire handle - go for a walk with your cake in a tin across the fields - if it’s windy take care there may briefly be flames - carry your cake in a tin to a tree & leave it there as an offering - on the way back collect more cakes if you find them for next time 🖤 (I did it with you in spirit)

Nice hapazome flag now leaning up in the kitchen ~ still good & strong plant pigments pounded out in late October… periwinkle, fennel, herb robert, clover, old cotton, black thorns & an elder stick ~ flapping about a few weeks ago on the beach, centering the gathering, a procession, a symbol of the wild & natural, a motif for earth worship 💚
