A few snaps from our recent Turnip Fish film night at UPCO!

Thank you for all who joined and submitted their films, it was a fab event with some fantastic shorts.

Thank you to all who donated as well, the proceeds are going into a funding pot for our next short film, Gwyddiun the puppet is looking after the cash for now!

Keep your eyes peeled for a fundraiser too if you couldn’t make the event but would like to donate. Our first film (On Strings) was produced with zero pounds - think what we could do with a bit of dosh!

Join us tonight this evening at UPCO Arts, Otley for a mouth-wateringly weird selection of short films!

It's pay as you feel with ample opportunity to rehydrate 🍻

Our headline for the evening will be our very own 'On Strings', by Tom Lee: our debut film production at Turnip Fish and a multi award-winning one at that 👄. After tonight it will be available for public viewing on the Youtube.

We are showing our first ever Turnip Fish Production: On Strings by Tom Lee, this month on 29th September, 6pm at UPCO Arts, Otley: pay as you feel

And that’s not all! We will also be showing other short film submissions - get em sent in for the chance to have your work shown in a relaxed, creative setting! 🎬

On Strings is a bleak comedy about a young ventriloquist who lives under the direction of a cruel hand puppet. It’s won multiple awards including the “best film made in Yorkshire 2025” and the Durham Film Festival “audience choice” award. 🏆

We’re so excited to screen this one so be sure to bob along on 29th 🍿 (& bring your cash so we can make another! 😉)

Happy International Women’s Day!!!

A theatre company founded by, run by and hugely supported by women, we’re proud to be feminists and will continue to champion women’s voices through our stories onstage and behind the scenes.

There are too many amazing women to picture here, but the support Turnip Fish has received from those in our circles has been incredible and I am grateful for it everyday 💜✊🏼

Happy to everyone, especially - without whom we would have little to no ghost tours whatsoever!

For our Yorkshire Ghost Tours, we get a lot of stories, and inspiration for our stories, directly from the pages of books. In fact, most of the tales told on our tours come from locally-written books, or the pub! True-enough tales told straight from the town are always the best, after all.

Keep local book shops alive, keep local pubs alive, keep reading about the unalive.
