This sort of bedroom is where so much of the British games industry started — a computer, a tape recorder, a pile of wires and absolutely no intention of getting an early night. I never had a ZX Spectrum as a kid, of course — I took the saner Commodore route. 😇 But I’ve still got huge respect for people like this and everything they did for British gaming back in the early 80s. Different machine, same obsession.

🕹️ RUFF ’N’ TUMBLE (1994) – COMMODORE AMIGA

If you fancy a bit of fast, frantic Amiga run-and-gun action, Ruff ’n’ Tumble is well worth revisiting.

Big sprites, loads of shooting, plenty going on and that unmistakable mid-90s Amiga look. It’s the sort of game that still gets mentioned whenever people start talking about the machine’s best action platformers.

The Oasis BBS has published a feature about my German C64 Index video, exploring the Commodore 64 games that were pushed out of sight, removed from advertising and kept away from normal shop shelves in 1980s Germany.
