A fully funded Weaving Programme for 16 to 25 year olds will start next Wednesday the 1st running from half past five till half past eight at the Loom Room. You’ll learn the fundamentals of loom weaving, work towards a collaborative piece, and take home your own woven project. The deadline for applications is next Tuesday the 31st and you can email: [email protected] for more details.
Orkney Traditional Dance Association have POSTPONED their Sunday Dance on Hoy due to the weather forecast. A new date will be announced in the near future.
Harray and Sandwick Community Council meets at half past seven tonight in the Milestone Kirk and on Teams.
Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club’s AGM is tonight at seven in the King Street Halls. And the Club will have a practice session after the AGM when new players are welcome.
Holm SWI meet tonight at seven o’ clock in Holm Community Centre. The competitions are A Tartan Article and the Letter B, and new members are welcome.
And Quoyloo SWI are celebrating their 80th birthday - if you are an ex- member and would like to join them then contact Ann on 751 458.
Indoor Bowls is on at the Dounby Centre tonight starting at seven o’ clock.
And Bowls will be also be played in the Orphir hall tonight from half past seven.
A Whist Drive will be held in the Rendall Community Centre at half past seven.
There’s Yarning in the Orphir Kirk tonight at seven with all welcome.

In Shapinsay there’s a Preschool Playtime in the Clubrooms this afternoon from half past one till three o’ clock.

The Junction Café at the Salvation Army is on today between half past eleven and two o’ clock when the food is free.
The Hub at Age Scotland is open this morning from half past ten till twelve, and again this afternoon between one o’ clock and half past two, Everyone’s welcome for a cuppa and a blether and should phone 87 2438 to book.
Clans Peedie Blether runs from half past ten till half past twelve at the Wellbeing and Support Centre on Victoria Street when anyone affected by cancer is welcome.
Traditional Dancing is on at Kirkwall Town Hall this morning starting at half past ten.
The Pier Arts Centre is Closed today and Thursday for annual winter maintenance. Open as normal from Friday onwards between half past ten and five Tuesday to Saturday.
The Orkney Yole Association is holding its AGM on Zoom tomorrow night at seven thirty. Everyone’s welcome and should Caroline Butterfield on 811 742 for the Zoom link.
Also on Thursday, the John Rae Society is hosting a Talk in Westray on Thursday evening when Andrew Appleby will give a Talk on The Hall of Clestrain and the Archaeological Research. It’s being held in the Graand Owld Byre at Chalmersquoy, with refreshments and a thrilling raffle!
Orkney Roller Derby is having an Adult Roller Disco on Friday 10th February at Kirkwall Grammar School. It will run from half past eight till ten o’ clock and is a £7 entry for 18’s and over, and you can book kit hire via Facebook or by email to: Orkney Roller Derby @ gmail dot com. There’ll also be a Bake Sale and a Bottle Stall and money raised will go towards the Junior Roller Derby Team for their first ever game in Edinburgh in March.

The class of 93 at the KGS will hold the postponed Reunion in the Kirkwall Legion on the 4th of August, and on Facebook or on 07922 606 393.
The St Magnus Festival Chorus is having a Come and Sing event with Tea and Cake this Saturday afternoon between two and four o’ clock. Whether you’re a regular member, or want to see what it’s like to sing with the Festival Chorus, you can go along for a fun afternoon of singing, social and cake – led by Paul Rendall. There’s no charge and you can book online at St Magnus Festival dot com.
The Community Fridges in Kirkwall and Stromness open week nights at half past eight, and the Fridge in Dounby opens Monday to Wednesday and on Friday nights at quarter past eight, and the Stromness fridge is now open on Saturdays from twelve till two. Tim Wootton has an Exhibition of Art at the Orkney Museum.
Stromness Museum’s Winter Exhibition is The Stone Speaks – Fossils, Creativity and Climate features artwork by Mary Grieve and Rebecca Marr, and it runs till the end of March. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday from eleven till half past three.
Tickets for the KAOS production of Sunshine on Leith are on sale at the Orcadian Bookshop. The show will run from the 7th to the 11th of February.
The Mind-On shop on Albert Street is open Monday to Saturday from ten till four. Donations can be left at the shop.
Clan’s Shop on Victoria Street is open every day but Sunday.
The Stromness Red Cross is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from ten till four.
Orkney Library and Archive is open Monday to Thursday from ten till six, and from ten till five on Friday and Saturday. The Archive hours are the same apart from Wednesday when it’s closed. They hope staying open till six will give more options for folk wanting to use the Library or to pick up Request and Collect items.
If you have any working electricals that you don’t need any more then you can donate them to support Restart Orkney. Small items can be dropped off at Restart on Junction Road, or at the Reuse Container at Hatston Recycling Centre. There’s also a free bookable household collection service for small electricals, call Restart Orkney on 87 97 77 to book in your free collection.
