European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) return this September, inviting residents and visitors to explore the fascinating heritage, stories and places that make our District unique.

From historic buildings and hidden heritage sites to guided walks, tours, talks, exhibitions, workshops and behind-the-scenes access, there’s plenty of opportunity to discover something new.

This year’s theme, ‘𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 – 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭, 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞’, explores stories of preservation, resilience and renewal, while shining a light on lesser-known aspects of our local heritage.

🎶 Celebrating Living Heritage in Omagh

The recent Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Belfast has been a wonderful reminder of the power of traditional music and culture to bring people together - and here in Omagh, we have a rich musical heritage of our own to celebrate.

This Saturday 12 September, Dún Uladh Cultural Heritage Centre, in collaboration with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, is bringing our traditions to life through two special events.

📖 Heritage Day | Saturday 12 September | 11am

Discover the history and development of Irish traditional music with a free lecture from Tiarnán Ó Duinnchiann, exploring regional styles, local composers, musicians and the stories behind the music.

This year we are excited to take part in Heritage Day in Fermanagh & Omagh.
We are excited to be hosting a special talk by Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn Celebrating Ireland's Rich Musical Heritage.
Come along and explore the living tradition of Trad Music in Ireland as we explore how local musical traditions have developed over generations, the distinctive characteristics of regional playing styles and the contribution of composers and musicians whose work has shaped Ireland's rich musical heritage.
This is a free event, no booking required, refreshments will be available.
