Rainbow Needlecraft Centre Dedicated to promoting needlecraft through classes, advice, information and an impressive product selection in a friendly, welcoming environment.

We are still working on ‘post -Covid’ reduced hours at the moment from 10am -4pm Thursday - Saturday. You no longer need an appointment to come in but we do ask you to respect social distancing as much as possible and masks and hand sanitiser must be used. Because of limited space in our workroom, regrettably the class programme is still on hold but we will let you know when circumstances change. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you saw my previous post you’ll be aware I signed up for Knit Everyday in August to support and fundraise For CHAS. I thought you might like to see what I’ve been up to this month. I think I’m supposed to have posted regularly, but life sometimes gets in the way - mainly knitting and sewing…..
I thought you might like to see what I’ve been up to. I finished a cardigan for Brian, just the sleeve, everything else was knitted in July. There is a cardigan and sleeveless jumper which will be donated to Abernecessities, another very worthwhile charity. I have accumulated quite a few for them. Socks - anyone who knows me knows how much I enjoy knitting socks, so I have quite a few. Two completed pairs, a single sock and several others I started. We have several long road trips coming up and I’ll finish these en route. It saves me fidgeting and annoying my poor husband….. finally a cardigan got started for myself.

This wall hanging measures approximately 15” x 18”.
In the workshop you’ll learn a simple method of appliqué to allow you to create your own stag, if you’ve not done any appliqué before this is a good project to get you started but is suitable for all skill levels.

If you want to learn free motion quilting, this is the class for you, during the class we’ll start with some simple shapes and learn how to combine them to make more elaborate designs.
Everyone will leave with a folder of free motion designs alongside a series of drawings.

Workshop Fee - £55
This Asymmetrical wall hanging measures approx 24” x 15”.
It features a very simple but effective background with three trees appliquéd on top.
There is minimal straight line quilting on the background, raw edge quilting on the trees and it’s finished with a couched edging.
This project is suitable for a confident beginner and above.

This is a very simple block which is ideal for beginner level and above
You will see from the photographs I have used the same block but created two very different quilts. One used a selection of oriental fabrics, while the second has lots of different fabrics in two colourways, this version has circles appliquéd on top which helps create a different effect.
Alternatively, you could go for a completely scrappy quilt, with or without circles.
