🖤NEW SIGNINGS💛

The band are delighted to welcome to the team father and son Matt and Joshua.
Matt and Joshua Curtis joined in May and performed with the band at the Spring Festival .
Both started their Brass band Journey at Delph Band, but 30 years apart!
Matthews early playing career settled at Hade Edge Band and a meteoric rise through the sections to enjoy a prolonged tenure in the Yorkshire Championship Section.
Joshua is very much a product of the brilliant Delph Band, from his first toot to the front row. Josh is well known as a super-sub , depping regularly for bands at all levels.
Matt and Joshua are looking forward to the challenges of the Championship Section.

Welcome to Boarshurst!

New MD for Boarshurst Band

Boarshurst Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Martyn Evans as their MD.

Martyn has been working regularly with the band since January and under his guidance has enabled us to establish and secure our position in the Championship Section at the North West Area Regional Championships.

Martyn also guided the band to our best ever result at the British Open Spring Festival Senior Cup, achieving an outstanding 6th-place finish.
Most recently, Martyn led the band in a hugely successful Whit Friday maintaining a placing in the top 12 at each venue, making it another memorable occasion for everyone involved.

Martyn brings a wealth of experience to the role both as a conductor and music educator.
During a long and successful teaching career as Deputy Director of Music for Oldham, Martyn taught and inspired hundreds of pupils many of whom went on to pursue successful careers as professional musicians.

Throughout his career he has continued to freelance as a player in Orchestras and Big Bands and as a conductor and player in numerous brass bands.
In 1996 he was invited to take up the baton with the newly reformed Ashton-Under-Lyne Brass Band. This partnership was to prove very successful. He led the band to numerous contest victories which included three consecutive North West Area Titles and three consecutive National Titles of Champion Band of Great Britain in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and consequent promotion to the Championship Section in 2000. Success continued culminating in 2010 with a 5th place in the Championship Section at the North West Area. Since records began Martyn is the only conductor to have won three consecutive National Titles in the Third, Second and First Sections.
In late 2013 Martyn was appointed as Musical Director to the James Shepherd Versatile Brass. He was delighted and privileged to conduct this world famous group of talented musicians, fulfilling a busy schedule of concerts, recordings and tours until the group disbanded in December 2015.
The Band are delighted that Martyn has agreed to become our Musical Director and we look forward to a successful partnership and future.

Welcome to Boarshurst, Martyn!

Our very own cornet player, Josh Evans, has had an incredible week at Taunton School with The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain - Children’s Band, under the direction Katrina Marzella-Wheeler. 🎺

Throughout the week, Josh has been developing his musicianship through both full ensemble rehearsals and sectionals, learning alongside some of the UK’s most talented young brass players.

The National Youth Brass Band - Children’s Band is a fantastic organisation that inspires, nurtures, and builds the confidence of the next generation of musicians, and we’re so proud to see Josh representing our band.

After successfully auditioning, Josh earned his place among just 56 of the UK’s best young brass players aged 8–13, an incredible achievement and one he should be immensely proud of.

Josh, your future is looking incredibly bright, and we can’t wait to see where your musical journey takes you.

We are SO proud of you, Josh!

WHIT FRIDAY 🥁🎺

What an incredible day!

We had so much fun seeing everyone across the villages of Saddleworth and thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a fantastic celebration of brass banding.

We are immensely proud of all our performances throughout the day and would like to extend our sincere thanks to MD Martyn Evans. It was a true privilege and honour to share the stage with you.

A huge thank you also goes to all the event organisers and stewards whose hard work, dedication, and commitment made this wonderful day possible. We would especially like to recognise and thank Greenfield Whit Friday Brass Band Contest and their fantastic team of stewards for everything they do.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the contest had to close before we had the opportunity to perform. While we are naturally disappointed not to have had the chance to showcase our band on our home stage, we fully appreciate the challenges involved in organising such a large and successful event. We would like to make it clear that this was in no way a failing of the organisers, and we wholeheartedly condemn any abuse or criticism directed towards those who worked so hard to make the day a success.

We would like to congratulate everyone involved in delivering another memorable Whit Friday and thank all those who came out to support the bands throughout the day.

Now, we look forward to preparing for our upcoming concerts and sharing more music with you soon!
