What a great start to Diggle Blues 2026. We had local band Devil Hound Blues at Wizards Hollow then we had a masterclass in guitar playing at the Band Club with Canadian guitarist Gary Cain and his band shown in the video. Another great day to look forward to today, starting at 1.30pm at Wizards Hollow with Katie and the Bad Sign. See you there!

Just one more sleep before Diggle Blues Festival starts at Wizards Hollow at 7.15pm on Friday, so like the banner says 'Let's Celebrate The Blues' in downtown Diggle.

Time to get your dancing shoes back from the cobblers. It's less than 4 weeks now before the musical extravaganza that is Diggle Blues Festival. We've had to make a change to our schedule, it can happen when you book bands 6 months before the event. Bonnie Mac UK have had to pull out but are to be replaced for the Saturday afternoon gig at Wizards Hollow by energetic blues/rock band from Manchester, KATIE AND THE BAD SIGN. These guys look just the job to get Saturday on the move.

We're nearly there to this years Festival - only 6 weeks to go, so let's just remember one of the brilliant acts we had last year, typical of what you might expect this year, Mike Davids Band from Birmingham.
Information on our funding is that we have now closed the Wellwishers Scheme for this year with 11 participants giving us Β£110 to help keep the festival no ticket and free entry. We do need your continued support though and it would help us if possible for you to bring along some cash, maybe for purchases of programmes, bucket collection etc - we know most people pay by card these days and we updated last year buying a couple of card readers but sadly success was intermittent. Thanks for your continued support.

Did we have some decent bands at last years Festival? We sure did. One of the highlights of the Festival was LIGHTNING THREADS from Sheffield. Check out the drummer playing both keyboards and drums at the start of this video. These guys were great and are taking off on the UK blues circuit, they've got a new album out and start a big UK tour in May, one of the stops being Night and Day Cafe in Manchester. We'll have to get these guys back next year.

Don't forget our funding initiative, the Wellwishers scheme where you can get a comment about the Festival in the programme for Β£10. We currently only have 6 Wellwishers and the scheme must close soon to enable inclusion in the programme which is soon to go to the printers, so if you'd like to get involved then now is the time.

Well, we're getting nearer to Diggle Blues 2026. Let's just remind ourselves of the quality acts that perform for us. Last year we again had some brilliant acts but the band that brought the house down was Hooson Maguire. Check out their version of the Beatles/Joe Cocker classic 'With a Little Help from my Friends'. It's a long video at 8 minutes but it's worth it to see the reaction of the audience at the end. Guitarist Paddy Maguire owns the Railway pub, Greenfield and the duo, Hooson/Maguire, can sometimes be seen at the weekly Thursday jam session with house band Backwater Blues Band. You never know who is going to turn up at the weekly jam, if you've not checked out a music night at the Railway, then give it a go.
