ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS
Studio Theatre Group
Playing 8th, 9th at 7.30pm and 10th (matinee only) October 2026 at Aberdeen Arts Centre.
Rehearsals TBC but anticipate Sundays and Wednesdays.
Friends, I’m pulling together some bits and bobs for this play and will look to fix audition date(s) asap. I know some people have already registered interest - thank you! - but I’ll try and formalise the process soon.
In the meantime, here’s the briefest of cast requirements. It’s 1963 in Brighton.
Ages are almost certainly moveable.
The number in each is the number of lines the character has (yes, I’ve literally counted them myself) but note that even big speeches (of which there are a few) I’ve just counted as 1 line meantime.
There’s a lot of words in this…!
Finally, there is a single (mandatory) song at the end with a few characters with solo lines in it - this is nothing to worry about and certainly shouldn’t stop you being interested if you think you “can’t” sing (because whoever you see you definitely can).
More to follow, any questions email back.
1. Charlie the duck Clench - 115 lines in 7 scenes (50s, gangster, Pauline’s dad, owes £ to Roscoe/Rachel)
2. Pauline Clench - 73 lines in 4 scenes (18, in love with Alan, determined to marry him. Not the sharpest tool)
3. (Harry) Dangle - 35 lines in 3 scenes (60s, solicitor, Alan’s dad)
4. Alan Dangle - 63 lines in 4 scenes (20s, “actor”, overly-dramatic fiancé to Pauline)
5. Dolly - 65 lines in 5 scenes (30s, Charlie’s secretary, Francis’ love interest)
6. Lloyd Boateng- 67 lines in 5 scenes (50s, pub landlord and Charlie’s friend)
7. Francis Henshall - 282 lines in 7 scenes (30s, main character, relentlessly hungry)
8. Rachel Crabbe - 176 lines in ALL 9 scenes (mid 20s, Stanley’s girlfriend, disguised as her murdered twin brother Roscoe, is after £ owed to Roscoe by Charlie)
9. Stanley Stubbers - 149 lines in 6 scenes (late 20s, Rachel’s boyfriend, accidentally killed Roscoe, arrives with false name and hires Francis as his manservant)
10. Alfie - 30 lines in 4 scenes (comically old - real or otherwise (he’s 87!) - mainly slapstick and pratfalls)
11. Gareth - 28 lines in 1 scene (40s, head waiter in dining scene - Act 1 Sc4)
12. Others - TBC 2 audience plants, Driver, Barman, Policeman - could this be 2 people only? 1 male and 1 female?
