Just back from Sprezzatura's rehearsal and they are sounding wonderful. Don't miss the last concert in the 2011 Festival of Sacred Music tomorrow at 7.30 pm. Sacred and secular Baroque solos and duets from Purcell, Buxthude, Blow, Coprario, Monteverdi and Mazzochi accompanied by the most outstanding small early music ensemble in the country. Admission £12 (£10 Concession). Free entry for students and under 21s. Join us for a post-concert refreshment and meet the performers.

This is the hidden gem of the Festival of Sacred Music series. On Saturday 8 October at 7.30 pm, Edinburgh University Renaissance Singers will be joined by Dunedin Consort, internationally renowned viol consort Fretwork and top lute player David Miller in a unique collaborative performance of music from the Wode Collection, the most important collection of music from the Reformation period in Scotland. It's going to be something very special. Admission £12 (£10 Concession); FREE ENTRY FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS/UNDER 21s.

Really looking forward to John Kitchen's organ recital tomorrow, Tuesday 4 October at 7.30 pm. Something for everyone with music from 3 centuries - Du Mage, Pachelbel, Bach, Krebs, Leighton and Durufle. A great way to celebrate 120 years of the Cathedral's fine Willis organ. It's been a wonderful first week of the 2011 Festival of Sacred Music with superb performances by the Dunedin Consort and Con Anima and lovely, appreciative audiences. Looking forward so much to next week with a long overdue recital in the Cathedral by the talented and charming John Kitchen and then, the concert we're calling the 'hidden gem' of the series. Edinburgh University Renaissance Singers with the Dunedin Consort, top Scottish lute player David Miller AND, hot off the press, with Fretwork viol consort. It's going to be something really special.

It's over to Con Anima Chamber Choir on Saturday 1st October. Beautiful contemporary choral music from Maurice Durufle, Arvo Part, Erik Ensenvalds, Gabriel Jackson, Morten Lauridsen and others, including the premiere of 'O vos omnes' by Ed Jones and the Scottish premiere of Paul Mealor's 'Salvator mundi'. Admission £10, Concession £8, free entry for students/under 21s. Complimentary refreshment afterwards. It will be another wonderful evening.
