It is with a heavy heart that I post this message. First Mondays are no more. One of the most famous, varied, welcoming, supportive, exciting and friendliest open mic in the area.
Ever since November 2011 there has been a First Monday Open Mic at The Green Dragon. Not a single one was cancelled, except during Lockdown, and even then we just moved on-line. Graham, Wenna and Laurie founded the get together and it happened unamplified in front of the fire in the bar. Then a PA system came and the 'stage' moved out of the bar. I started attending not long after this and mentioned that I knew about PA systems. I have been the official sound engineer ever since.

We have had the pleasure to host solo artists, duos, trios, full bands, a capella performers, wordsmiths, stand ups, magicians and instrumentalists. We have seen it all, everything from jazz to rock, hurdy-gurdy to musical saw, folk to classical. Performers ranging between very young and those still in their prime. We have had some artists travel from far and wide just to play at this special gathering here in Devon. There have been special sessions for the youngsters to show off their talents. Even Britain's Got Talent came down and had a look at us.

Thank you to Graham, Wenna and Laurie for initiating this amazing event. Thank you to all the fantastic performers who have graced our stage over the past 11 years and all those that have supported, in whatever way. Thanks, also, to The Green Dragon for hosting. I am proud to have been involved and sad to see it end.
Wishing you the very best of luck with all your future musical activities, whichever side of the footlights you are on.

Last night was sparsely attended but an excellent musical evening nonetheless. We were entertained by Last Man Standing (Dave & Doug) Adam and Jim Pates. I played a bit to open up too - nobody thought I was photogenic though. :-) :-)

Only a couple of, nearly, Christmas song too. :-)

Happy Monday. Next Monday will be even happier if you join us for the Open Mic at The Green Dragon.
No matter what the weather is like outside it will be warm, dry, welcoming and fun.
Performances start at 8 o'clock, please book a slot for your 15 minutes of fame on the door.

Thanks all those that endured through the wind and rain to be with us last night. A great, but sparsely populated, evening. We had Fold (Kerry and David), One Point Five (Cheryl and Jeff), Last Man Standing (David and Doug), Dave Rich (with Doug), Adam and Ken Rich. Also starting off were David Street and me (Neil Edgson).

No photos of me and David (can't do photos and play guitar at the same time) :-) or Ken Rich - he performed his moving Remembrance poem, with sound and visual effects, also In Flanders Fields in the dark.

See you again next month on the 5th. Christmas songs may be tolerated. :-) :-) :-)

Another excellent musical start to the month and Autumn too. We were fantastically performed at by Joined At The Hip (Graham & Jo), David Street, One Point Five (Jeff & Cheryl), Jim Pates, Phil Garvey, Ken Rich, Adam and Neil Edgson.
We will be First Monday again on November 7th but we will be doing a special evening on October 21st for Phil Garvey's friend CJ who will be visiting as part of her South West tour. Come along and play or watch - both activities are very welcome.
