Meet Mary the manager of The Thoulstone Park Burial Meadow.

A title she never expected four months ago. When her 18-year-old son applied for a job at Thoulstone Park, his name happened to match someone James and Alka had worked with before, leading to an unexpected conversation. When they learned Mary makes willow coffins, they asked if she knew anyone who might want to establish and run a natural burial site. Mary jumped at the opportunity, emailed them that evening, met the next day, and the rest is history.

Mary is passionate about bringing this part of Thoulstone Park to life and believes that life and death are two sides of the same coin. She hopes to help restore the natural rhythm between them, something she feels has been lost in modern culture. She will guide you through every step, from your first visit to the Meadow, through the burial or ashes interment, and afterwards if you need help locating a loved one’s grave.

Welcome to Thoulstone Park Natural Burial Meadow

We believe that in death, there is life.

The Meadow at Thoulstone Park offers a thoughtful alternative to traditional funerals, giving people a resting place that truly honours nature.

Set within the grounds of a site shaped by sustainability, community and wellbeing, the burial meadow is a place where remembrance and renewal sit side by side. Every burial supports the landscape, protects biodiversity and helps the land continue to flourish.

Natural burials here are simple and ecological, using biodegradable coffins or shrouds, no embalming and plastic free choices. Graves remain unmarked so the meadow can stay wild and untouched, with the option of a memorial plaque displayed in our gathering area. Services are unhurried, welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds, with the freedom to shape a ceremony that reflects the person being remembered.

If you see life and death as two sides of the same coin, The Meadow at Thoulstone Park may be the right place for you or your loved ones.

A couple of spaces have come available on this round basket course this week at my workshop in Nunney. The day has now changed to Friday 6th June. You can make either of these baskets. The asymmetric one has a wooden base which allows you to make a slightly larger basket in the time we have. The round stake and strand has a woven base so will be a smaller basket with a handle if time allows.

10 am to 4.30 pm
Materials included and refreshments provided. Bring a packed lunch.
£95

There is a framed berry basket course on Thursday 10th July if you prefer this style.
Same details as above.
