We offer 1-2-1 training in Singing, Musical Theatre and Acting , and the option of examinations through LCM and LAMDA . We also offer group classes. We have a wide range of performance opportunities for students, including performing in Londons West End.

We pride ourselves on our audition preparation teaching, for those who wish to attend further education within the performing arts , such as stage schools and dance colleges. Many of our graduates have gone on to gain places in some of the countries top stage schools.

As well as teaching within our own school, RJ Academy often branches out into the public sector , teaching within schools and colleges to direct plays and workshops.

Our ethos is to work in partnership with our students and their parents / carers, to nurture and guide every student to reach their full potential.

We aim to provide high quality training in all aspects of our school. We invest a great deal of interest in every students personal development, placing equal importance on encouraging confidence and self belief as well as skills and technique. It is this safe and friendly environment coupled with the disciplined, informative training and the inspiring enthusiasm of our staff and pupils that is the key to our success.

🌟 Student of the Month 🌟
POPPY BLEKINSOPP

Abbys Student of the Month is Poppy.
Her confidence has grown so much recently, and it has been wonderful to watch. She recently completed her very first Medal Test and worked incredibly hard to prepare for it.
Every week she pushes herself a little further outside of her comfort zone and embraces new challenges. She has also been putting a huge amount of effort into preparing for her upcoming exam.
Well done, Poppy — you’re absolutely smashing it! We are all so proud of you. 💜

🎭✨ DIPLOMA SEASON IS HERE! ✨🎭

We are incredibly proud to have five students working towards their Diploma qualifications this year at RJ Academy.

A diploma is one of the highest levels of performance examination and requires dedication, maturity, commitment, and a genuine passion for the performing arts. These qualifications go far beyond simply learning lines or songs – students are expected to demonstrate advanced performance skills, technical understanding, interpretation, research, and professionalism.

The journey to a diploma challenges performers to think deeply about their work, develop their artistic identity, and perform at a level that prepares them for further training and the industry itself.

Our diploma students have spent months researching, rehearsing, refining, and pushing themselves outside their comfort zones. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is immense, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment they have shown.

Whether they are pursuing the arts professionally or simply striving to achieve their personal best, the skills gained through diploma study – confidence, communication, discipline, creativity, and resilience – will stay with them for life.

A huge good luck to all five of our diploma candidates. We can’t wait to see your hard work come to life and celebrate everything you have achieved along the way. 🌟

At RJ Academy, we believe singing is so much more than hitting the right notes.

From a young age, our students are taught that every song tells a story. Through acting through song, they learn to understand the character, connect with the lyrics, and communicate genuine emotion to an audience.

Lyla has been working hard on bringing her song to life, thinking about who she is, who she is singing to, what she wants, and why the words matter. The result is a performance that feels authentic, engaging, and believable.

Technical singing skills are important, but it’s the storytelling that truly captures an audience’s attention. That’s why acting through song is woven into our training from the very beginning, helping our students grow into confident, expressive performers.

So proud of Lyla and the progress she’s making. 🌟🎭🎶

✨ We are incredibly proud to share the feedback received following our recent Child Protection & Licensing Inspection at our show. ✨

“RJ Academy had created a fun, safe environment for the young people taking part to showcase their talents. Care had been taken in all areas.
Recommendations are to continue good practice supporting young people to shine and express themselves.”

To receive a report with no amendments required is something we are extremely proud of. 💜

The safety, wellbeing and happiness of our students will always come first, and we work incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure every child feels supported, encouraged, protected and celebrated whilst doing what they love most.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff team, licensed chaperones, volunteers and families for helping us continue to create such a positive environment for our young performers to thrive in.

At RJ Academy, we don’t just put on shows — we create spaces where young people can grow in confidence, express themselves freely and truly shine. ✨

Today after 11 years of 1-2-1 lessons we said good bye to lovely Tilly! Tilly is leaving now to focus on her GCSEs after being a hardworking student for over a decade! Throughout Tilly’s time with us she has achieved amazing exam results in grade 1-7 and has appeared in many of our showcases. We were thrilled that she took part in our London show 2025 as well! Tilly has always worked hard through all her lessons including her Covid lockdown zoom lessons and she has really improved over the years she has become a really strong technical singer with a great belt on her and we will miss her so much . It only feels right to mention that through Tilly joining me the door was opened to many many of our fantastic students we have today . Tilly is part of the Chater family and her mum sent so many students my way over the years putting students needs first opening up doors to them being triple threat performers and encouraging 1-2-1 singing lessons - because of this I feel many other dance schools could seethe benefit and were comfortable to do the same . All of the Chater students that have come our way over the years have been hardworking , loyal and professional students showing th quality and ethos of their dance training following through . I will be forever greatful . Although this is goodbye for now for Tilly our door is always open and we wish you all the best. Always part of the RJ family 💙💜

Huge good luck to everyone taking medal tests today ! Enjoy yourself 🎉
