So. This is what I’ve been doing when I’m not selling you trimmings… 😂🐇

There were rumours on the dog walk about our local golf course.

Then a planning document appeared.

I thought, “Ooh, I’ll just have a little look.”

Unfortunately, I have a geology degree, I used to be a librarian and I really, REALLY like finding things out.

This has gone exactly as well as you might imagine.

Several months later, I know considerably more about ecology, planning, historic maps, title deeds, Environmental Impact Assessments and Freedom of Information requests than any woman who sells decorative braid for a living has any reasonable need to know.

I went down the rabbit hole. The rabbit hole had archives.

So that’s a little glimpse behind the scenes at Mokshatrim this year. 😆

Is it velvet season yet? 🍂 Yes, I KNOW it’s only the 3rd of September and the weather is still quite nice.

Unfortunately, nobody appears to have told my sewing brain.

Suddenly I’m thinking about texture. Rich colours. Jackets. Cuffs. Collars. And velvet. 💚

Not necessarily an entire velvet garment, either. Velvet ribbon is rather wonderful for adding just a little bit of that richness — around a collar or cuff, edging a pocket, down a button band, at a waist…

A small detail that can completely change the feel of something.

This emerald green is 25mm wide, and I have narrower velvet ribbons too.

So I need to know: has your sewing brain switched to autumn yet, or are you refusing to surrender summer? 😂

TWO men.�ONE obsession.�THE DETAILS.

As someone who has somehow managed to build an entire business around the little things that make a big difference, I feel extremely seen. 😂👑

Though I still prefer to call them trims.

Tonight’s Sewing Bee is Literary Icons Week… so naturally I started wondering what would happen if literature got loose in the Mokshatrim stockroom. 📚😂

Magical — where W***y Wonka considers a whopping great sequinned appliqué positively restrained?

Or perhaps you're Eccentric, Mysterious or gloriously Dramatic?

I love trim because the tiniest detail can completely change the story a garment tells. Lace makes it romantic. Fringe brings drama. Something unexpected can take a perfectly nice make and give it a whole new personality.

And now, pop pickers… it’s time for THE BEE CHARTS.

Yes, Music Week has given me an excuse to turn my increasingly unnecessary Sewing Bee spreadsheet into a full-blown chart countdown.

And we have a VERY stubborn No. 1.

Anna has now topped my Sewing Bee Stats for SEVEN consecutive weeks.

Every. Single. Week.

But don’t assume it’s all over just yet — Beth and Rebecca are separated by only ONE POINT in second and third.

So who’s your No. 1?

Are you backing Anna to go all the way — or is there a late chart climber waiting in the wings?

And yes, I am absolutely giving away my age with this one.

🪩 I may be SLIGHTLY excited about Music Week…

Madonna-inspired cone bras. Outfits for a pop trio. And disco decadence for the Made-to-Measure.

I mean… if there was ever a Sewing Bee week made for someone with an unreasonable quantity of fringe, sequins and generally fabulous trim, THIS IS IT. 😂

Although…

Of ALL the weeks not to have Tim in the sewing room! 😭

Can you imagine what he would have done with disco decadence?!

I desperately want to see the Tim version that now exists only in my head. I suspect restraint would not have featured heavily. ✨

Who else is ridiculously excited for this one?

And what are we expecting — glorious excess or complete chaos? 👀

Before Tuesday brings us another Sewing Bee episode, shall we have a quick look at what Children’s Week did to the stats?

Children’s Week was all tutus, teddies and superheroes.

Frankly, all that was missing was a..... Space Hopper.

So naturally, I’ve put the remaining sewers on them.

And after last week’s completely static leaderboard, we finally have movement: Beth has bounced up into second place.

She’s also now managed a Top 3 finish in 9 of the 12 Pattern and Transformation Challenges I’ve scored.

Meanwhile Anna remains at the top, and our Dark Horse is looking increasingly suspicious as a description…

So before Tuesday: who are you backing?
And is there anyone you’ve completely changed your mind about since Week 1?

When did we learn to second-guess the things we love? 💗

Watching Children’s Week on the Sewing Bee got me thinking…

When we’re little, we don’t wonder whether the pink is too pink.
Whether the sparkles are a bit much.
Whether that fabulous, out-there trim is perhaps a step too far.

We just know we LOVE it.

So we wear it. ✨

No second-guessing. No toning it down. No wondering what everyone else will think.

Where did we lose that 8-year-old certainty?

Because quite frankly, I think she had a point. 👑

Maybe we should let her loose on the fabric stash more often…
