Thanks to myself Jesse Eden Freeman for the greatest act of nepotism, booking myself for Scums 7th Birthday, couldn't have done it without ya babes 😅🤣🤣🤣 Congrats to me for staying just about sane or insane enough to keep a monthly, grassroots, non profit, unfunded event going 7 whole bloody years! Here's some of me set from the night 🗣🎤💥♀️

On a more serious note, genuinely couldn't have kept Scum going without yous who've been supporting from the beginning, the new faces that keep coming & continue the tradition that once you come to Scum you always come back, all our open micers, headliners & feature acts, the attendees who come just to soak it all in, our fab venue Robin Hood Sherwood & to all the friends I've made along the way. It's been a blast, an honour & a pleasure to create a space where all your voices shine. I'm so proud to see all your growth, sometimes from your very first time on stage to bagging headline slots, publishing books & all sorts of inspiring success stories.

Again, huge, massive thank you to all you wonderful folks who celebrated our 7 year anniversary with us! We wouldn't be Scum without all our open micers, the newbies, those who've been coming for years & the friends we've made along the way! So, so proud & honoured to have run this event for this long!

It's Scums 7th Birthday! And yes that is I, Jesse Eden Freeman, doing the ultimate act of nepotism & headlining my own event 😅🤣 Listen, it's me birthday month, 7 is me lucky number & no one can stop me making this executive decision 🤣🤣🤣

This month all entrance fee donations will be given to a local, small charity. Nottingham Women for Change organise & host affordable/free events for working class & marginalised women. They run a women's book group, monthly breakfast & perimenopause/menopause support group & other social events. This charity is very close to my heart & they deserve a medal for the work they do for women & the joy they bring to many womens lives.

As always there will be loads of open mic slots, sign up on the night from 7pm.

Come & celebrate & have some cake! 7 years of grassroots, non profit, unfunded events, run single handedly by yours truly 🗣🎤👏💥

"Nottingham Women for Change are a small charity with a local focus on women's empowerment and education. Supporting women who are at increased risk of social isolation due to racism, classism, poverty and/or motherhood our work is focused on bringing women together. Peer support is powerful and we provide opportunities for women to help themselves and each other through building solid support networks, sharing knowledge and care.

Our Speak Your Truth Women's Open Mic will bring together established poets, singers and speakers with women who may have never held a mic before! Any woman can sign up for an open mic slot on the day to speak her truth.

If you are a woman who has never performed or spoken in public and would like one to one support to prepare your thoughts into a short piece as well as tips on how to confidently speak into a microphone we will also have a sign up sheet for this".

Feature Act Tanith Stewart:
"Exchanging tear-stained tissues for pen & paper; poetry isn’t just a creative outlet for Tanith - it’s a life line. Standing on the fault lines of lived experience; she navigates the trauma of s*x, relationships & mental health through rhymes & songs.

Starting her journey at Poetry Scum, she found her voice to describe the unexplainable & through her words she hopes to bring awareness & a sense of solidarity to those navigating their own healing".
