We had a lovely time performing the latest iteration of Tales from the Wheelbarrow in the The Harley Foundation 's museum. The show went down really well and Olive and Teaspoon loved meeting their guests after the performances.

There are more chances to catch us in June - at The National Civil War Museum in Newark on the 4th at midday, and at four venues for Nottingham Puppet Festival on 13th and 20th. All event details can be found on the calendar page of the Wayward Objects website. Michelle will also be running drop-in workshops at Green Hustle festival on 30th May and Newark Library on 1st June.

Steno and Michelle will be performing 'Tales from the Wheelbarrow' at the Harley Museum as part of the launch day for the new exhibition in the Harley Gallery of Serena Korda's work.

Olive is back from Mansfield Museum and Art Gallery ready for Wayward Objects rehearsals today. She’s been sitting on a chair attached to the wall for a good few weeks as part of the Green Power: Red Flags exhibition where she had some lovely responses from visitors. Before we left she enjoyed trying out the reading den I built for the My Favourite Tree exhibition, which is open now for reading and play. I converted it from a bike shed, inspired by allotment sheds and imagining Olive as its owner. I cut out skylights, created a fig tree growing over and through it, and added a wood burner made from a beer barrel donated by Welbeck Abbey Brewery. It also has a bench, beanbags and cushions, book storage inside the doors and posters about plants and wildlife.

This Thursday 11am and 1:30pm at Mansfield Palace Theatre. Our last outing with ’Wading and Wandering’ for now, it’s been evolving with every new audience. Lots of interactive puppetry, movement, song and making, designed for under-fives. Just two tickets left for the morning show, a few more for the afternoon.

Today Wayward Objects took Wading and Wandering to Warsop - a lot of Ws! This was our first time trying it out with school groups and we had two wonderful Reception classes who walked over to Vibrant Warsop from Birklands Primary School. This is an image of the cardboard strandline laid out against a fabric sea ready for our young visitors to discover, complete with its litter debris, linoprinted shells and mermaids purses, and paper creatures.

We got to hang out with the fabulous Suzy Gunn of HandMade Theatre today. Amongst other things we were trying out some Spoonbill walking improvements. Adding prongs to the toes of Michelle’s shoes turned out NOT to be the answer 😂. Learned loads about how to function as a company, talking about touring, where we might take our shows, when and whether to become a CIC, and more. Exciting times!
