Titled: 32 0’Clock
A study of Watercolour on A3 paper 2x ( diptych) and a poem.

Oceans apart,
pressured by time,
time measured from a distance,
Pregnant with questions.

Questions laced with curiosity,
Curiosity of the when.
When is it happening?,
Happening to the countdown,
Should we begin?
When?

Is a question.
A question?
A question of concern
Or control
Wearing the costume of care.

Care conditioned by numbers,
by yearly checks-ins
Check in with the alarm,
ticking the calendar,
Waiting for a ring.

When?
When will the alarm ring,
ring to the desire,
For the desire is the ring.

When?
Ring to the destination
Of the ultimate wait.

Wait
Waiting,
no
Chase for the ring
Time is 32 0’Clock.

This painting responds to my “Single Pringle” series by visualising the tension placed on woman particularly African women through time. Marriage is often framed as a countdown and time is weaponised. Rather than depicting resistance as confrontation, I focus on stillness, autonomy and presence as forms of power rejecting societal panic on marriage.

Every art piece, whether showcased or ... not, holds a memory I’ll cherish. Through struggles and disagreements, we found strength in our shared passion. As 2025 concludes, I’m reflecting on my journey and thankful for God’s guidance, loved ones, and supporters. Art has been the bridge that connects us, and I’m grateful for each person who’s been part of this journey. Here’s to 2026, stronger and more determined! Cheers 🥂

“Rewriting the narrative, one woman at a time”.

Watercolour on Paper.

Rewriting the narrative, one woman at a time is one of my pieces collection in a series titled: SINGLE PRINGLE.

Single Pringle is a series inspired by single women in the African and Black community who dare to dream boldly and redefine their own narratives. It spotlights women who have taken it upon themselves to challenge the deeply rooted patriarchal belief especially prevalent in parts of Africa, including Nigeria that a woman must be married in her mid-twenties to early thirties to be considered relevant, respected, or valued.

This cultural expectation has long pressured young girls and women into rushed or unhealthy marital decisions, often limiting their ambitions and confining their identities to marriage as the ultimate badge of success. In this system, marriage is framed not as a choice, but as a requirement and a woman’s primary measure of worth.

Single Pringle celebrates the women who refuse to be defined by these constraints. These are women who are courageously rewriting the script: choosing themselves, pursuing big dreams, and showing younger girls and other women that fulfillment, achievement, and purpose are possible with or without marriage. They model a life where womanhood is not tied to marital status, and where choice not coercion determines one’s path.

This series envisions a world where women can exist in a toxic-free environment, free from stereotypes, pressure, shame, stigma, mockery, and disrespect simply because they are single. It upholds the belief that marriage is a beautiful institution meant for two fully informed, consenting adults not a societal obligation or a measure of worth imposed by family, peers, or tradition.

At its core, Single Pringle is a movement of empowerment, autonomy, and narrative reclamation affirming that every woman has the right to define her own journey.

I saw this duck some days ago and I loved the colours of the body. I knew somehow that I will paint it because I’m attracted to colours. Funny thing is; there were two of them ( maybe husband and wife) so they posed for me to give them some shots and afterwards they both flew away immediately. 😂 The last two slides has pictures of these duck.

I bet you’re thinking it is the same duck.
But it is not! The last slide “duck” looks like the female to me and the previous, the male. Or maybe two girlfriends or more like the mother
of the previous. 😂 Look closely and tell me what you see. For me the last duck has the motherly/womanly features. I’m talking too much! 🤭 What are your thoughts tho.

I made an attempt🙂‍↔️not the best tho but l
sure had fun painting this pretty duck in watercolour. (Long time no watercolour painting) Acrylic will definitely hit different but will try this again and again in same medium till I get my satisfaction.

Unplanned post (tick )✅ not typical of me,?✅ but not all the time planned or has to make so much sense to meet some social media “standard” sometimes be unserious!, play!, have fun with the process and post it! Post it!!! In the end, you are the price, the piece and the peace so prioritise you! 🫶🏾

Bedtime in Mummy’s Shopping Bag.
Acrylic on canvas
2025

Ovie- fussy, grumpy, sweet delight,
A storm of giggles in the quiet night.
Adorable, playful, a radiant spark,
A baby wrapped in love’s hallmark.

Don’t you just love me? Of course you do!
I am not just a baby, I’m your baby through and through.
Smart and joyful, with charm I parade,
Cute as a sunshine in a cotton cascade.

I cry when I’m hungry and when I’m not,
When I need Mummy, or forgot what I sought.
Sometimes I cry just for the sound,
Because I can, and joy abounds.

Geun-geun is the melody you craved when I first kissed earth.
Remember how you loved that sound?
So why the furrowed brow now?

Your night is my day, my day is your night.
My schedule’s wild, my hunger deep.
I eat at dawn, at dusk, and noon,
And smile at shadows across the room.

I know you’re tired, you’re pulled and worn,
But don’t leave me feeling so torn.
Take me with you here, there, and back,
Tucked safely into your warm, soft sack.

Because I am a baby your baby,
A squishy bundle of destiny.
Enjoy my chubby cheeks, hands, body, with those tiny toes and fingers,
While it can still fit into your shopping bag
This giggling joy that daily grows,

So savour me now, before I lag,
From bedtime curled in your shopping bag.
A cradle of plastic, soft and snug,
A nest of rustles, a mother’s hug.

For I’ll grow fast, that’s nature’s plan —
But now I fit where your groceries ran.
So keep me close, don’t let me drag,
It’s bedtime still in Mummy’s shopping bag.

A poem by Faith Okorodudu

Bedtime in mummy’s shopping bag was inspired by the power of memory triggered by happy emotions, reminiscing on the experiences of family bond built, and the memories we carry along life. I found great joy and inspiration in painting my nephew Ovie reflecting on the joy and warmth he’s brought to the family ever since his birth and how that gave me my first big title; AUNTY! you can now call me “Aunty Faith! 😅

Stay tune for the next!
