“Knitting is very good for you,” said the 80-year-old lady I was visiting. “The hand-to-eye coordination helps keep your brain healthy as you get older, and is a great stress reliever.”

Her enthusiasm for her subject was catching, and as I said my goodbyes, she had me thinking perhaps I should take it up!

Reflecting on this later, I remembered something from the Bible: “You knitted me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). I love this. Just imagine God watching over you in the womb, forming and creating you, like an artist making a beautiful work of art; imparting to you all the potential for your life: to love and be loved and to make a difference in the world.

Yet so many people miss this. They dwell on the disappointments, failures, and rejections in life, and therefore don’t rate themselves highly. Well, this part of the Bible is God saying to you: “Find hope in me. I have created you in my image.” Just let this sink in. You are special and important in his eyes.

Steven Spielberg timed it nicely when his film about an aliens cover-up, Disclosure Day, was released in June (which the image you see attached to this post is from).

Back in the nineties I researched the UFO phenomenon to find out what was really going on. I discovered that although most UFO sightings had non-alien explanations, there was a hard core of alien encounters that seemed real.

These ‘abductions’ and other scenarios, I concluded, were not physical events but spiritual, and had a lot in common with demonic encounters.

Even the fictitious Disclosure Day can’t avoid supernatural elements: aliens give the lead character the power to speak any human or alien language – clearly a demonic version of ‘speaking in tongues’ in the Bible.

The Christian Post recently reported that many adults “experience weekly nightmares and claim to have been abducted by an ‘alien’… these terrifying ordeals have a common thread. Both experiences can be stopped by calling on the name of Jesus.”

If aliens aren’t demons, why would Jesus scare them off, just like he did when he walked our planet 2,000 years ago!

Already scarred by a troubled childhood, Lucinda Button “hit the wall and it all became too much” after becoming a mum for a second time and moving home.

She suffered an emotional breakdown as past trauma resurfaced due to chronic stress, which led her to look for help in the enticing but dangerous New Age movement.

Seeking healing, Lucinda read a book by a prominent New Age author and soon became a so-called ‘spiritual life coach’. It’s only now that she recognises what she offered was actually “empty and self-focused”.

She experienced many mental and physical struggles over the years that New Age could not help her with.

But 2021 was a turning point – in which she would leave “New Age false spirituality to follow Jesus”.

The New Age world she’d embraced for seven years “started to crumble” as “the veil was lifted from my eyes”.

Eventually, she “just knew, unmistakably, that Jesus is who he says he is in the Bible” and the jigsaw came together.

Then, one night, she realised her need for God’s forgiveness: “On my knees it all spilled out of me... my life had been filled with defilement, debauchery... I laid it all out before God with tears streaming down my face.”

She says it took three years from God’s “rescue operation to pull me out of the pit” to that Saturday evening on her knees, “crying out for forgiveness”.

Then she started a Facebook group to help people cross ‘the bridge’ from New Age to Jesus, and eventually joined a church where she’s also helped other ex-New Agers find real faith and hope.

Olonga, who at the age of 18 was also his country’s youngest player, still holds the record bowling figures for a Zimbabwean in a one-day international.

But during a 2003 World Cup match, Olonga had made a life-changing decision. He protested against former dictator Robert Mugabe by wearing a black armband – symbolically grieving the death of democracy in Zimbabwe. As expected, it resulted in death threats.

But committed Christian Olonga says it was all worth it, firmly believing his protest “was a mandate from God”. It drew worldwide attention to Mugabe’s dictatorship.

Concerned about human rights abuses and corruption that had happened through Mugabe, Olonga knew he had to make a stand.

“This was something God had placed in me. I think by nature I’m not that selfless, honestly... I don’t think I would want to sacrifice my life and comfort for the sake of a cause… I remember reading Isaiah 1:17 [in the Bible], which says contend for the widow and the orphan, rebuke the oppressor.”

He and a fellow teammate were dropped from the team and both were accused of treason.

The only way to escape the country would be to win or drew against the World Champion team, Pakistan. So, he prayed to God.

What happened next was miraculous: Cyclone Japhet caused enough rain for the game to be abandoned as a draw, meaning Olonga could escape, with the rest of his side, to South Africa.

“Perhaps the fact that my life was preserved on that occasion was a sign that God was with me,” he reflects.

Uwe grew up in Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish border. His mother was a refugee from Lithuania.

He had been invited to a church ‘homegroup’ as a teenager and was even baptised in the Lutheran church, but he lost contact with the group due to his growing addictions.

Uwe’s own addiction story began when he was 14. First it was alcohol, then various drugs such as ma*****na and L*D. At the age of 20, he became addicted to gambling. Two years later, he attempted su***de.

“I emptied an entire litre bottle of wh***ey to give myself courage — and then something happened that I can only describe as a miracle: I heard a voice saying to me, ‘If you do this now, you will stand before God. And the way you have lived, you cannot stand before God.’”

“I fell to my knees and said a prayer: ‘If that's true, then you have to help me, God, I can't do it alone.’ Then I fell asleep.”

The next morning, Uwe’s doorbell rang and two former classmates were standing there. Both had recently become Christians and had met to pray.

“They felt they should come to tell me that Jesus could set me free. I knew at that moment that they were the answer to my prayer from the night before.”

Today, he works as a charity executive (for Tearfund Germany), theologian, author and podcaster.

An ancient Egypt carving also shows Egyptians beating two captives from Canaan – and they are shown as much bigger than the Egyptians.

Sceptics have alternative explanations for both these pieces of evidence, but there are good reasons to believe that both are telling the truth.
The Anastasi Papyrus resides in the British Museum and is dated at 3300 years old.

This is almost exactly the same timeframe as the story in the Bible of Israeli spies who came back from Canaan with reports of giants in the land. In Numbers 13:33, the spies say: “We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” No doubt an exaggeration of the size difference, but clearly most of the spies were afraid of these larger human beings.

Julie, a Colombian descended from at least five generations of occultists, was immersed in dark activity from a very young age, which she simply “didn’t quite understand”.

As a child she always had scary dreams and visions, and by the tender age of 12 Julie’s official witchcraft training had already begun.

Now Julie reflects: “It was apparently all good, but it doesn’t matter if it’s white or black witchcraft, what’s important is: who is the source?

“Witchcraft is basically when you’re controlling and manipulating people... through rituals and through things.

She adds: “Witchcraft is always going to make you think that you have the power” but in reality it comes from evil spirits.

Julie used to ‘interact’ with her ‘spirit guide’ in the evenings, feeling “his presence coming in the room”. But far from feeling joyful, Julie used to cut herself and felt suicidal. She felt as though she should “ultimately become the sacrifice”.

However, when death finally came, it was her father who took his own life.

Julie was angry and confused, but eventually went one step further herself – not just quitting witchcraft but going to church: “It was like I knew I was going to encounter something that would change my life.”

And she did! She felt an atmosphere like she’d “never felt in my life” and soon found the love and forgiveness of Jesus.

However Julie, who has lived in both Spain and the UK, went through a long gradual process before being completely “delivered from the demonic”.

The content creator lost 30,000 followers overnight, but says she’d make the same decision all over again.

In an emotional farewell video, the content creator told followers that “Jesus Christ has saved my life” and that during the last year she had been praying and questioning her path in life.

One person commented: “Lost followers but gained eternal life. I am so happy for you”. Another said: “Lost 30k followers but gained eternity in heaven. I call that a win.”

Another: “I read tarot for 15 years before God very heavily convicted me in my spirit… that tarot is witchcraft, it uses ‘familiar demonic spirits’ to give those readings and it is very, very wrong. I praise God for reaching waaay below the bottom to save a sinner like me! He met me where I was and I have come so far! Thank you, Jesus!”

Good News says: “Tarot cards are spiritually dangerous because they can lead to contact with evil spirits, who only aim to destroy your life. We warn all readers to avoid them. Instead, turn to the giver of life – Jesus Christ.”
