Coming soon to The Lace Market Theatre, Dario Fo’s 'Accidental Death of an Anarchist, adapted by Tom Basden.

When a certified ‘Maniac’ (whose hobby is impersonating authority figures) arrives at a police station, it prompts an unscheduled investigation. The subject is the mysterious death of a man who left the building during an interrogation… via a top-floor window.

What follows is a whirlwind of re-enactments, cartoonish characters, and increasingly outrageous excuses, as the Maniac runs rings around the police officers and unravels their web of contradictions and cover-ups.

Our next show up is Nobel Prize-winning playwright Dario Fo’s 1970 comedy Accidental Death of an Anarchist, which is a hilariously fast-paced farce, that skewers institutional corruption and performative justice.

In this razor-sharp new adaptation by Tom Basden, the chaos is relocated to contemporary Britain—where, somehow, the madness feels more relevant than ever.

And so ends another successful visit from our Karlsruhe theatre 'twins'! With two great shows, a trip to historic Lincoln and the chance to enjoy the more social aspects of Nottingham in the glorious weather, it's safe to say our hosts and guests have had a fabulous week!

These friendships have continued for over 40 years and we look forward to many more visits - we're already planning for 2028...!! 🇩🇪 🇬🇧

As we leave the robotics and great fun of Theater Die Kauze’s production behind, the Jakobus and LMT teams are busy setting the scene for the next!

In SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR by Bernard Slade, we join George and Doris as they meet at a Northern California inn in February 1951. They have an affair and agree to meet once a year, despite the fact both are married to others and have six children between them.

Come and join us for fun and frolics in this German speaking production - the play is running tonight, 27 May with two shows tomorrow, 28 May. Tickets are free but you can book at www.lacemarkettheatre.co.uk
