Nottingham Youth Theatre

Nottingham Youth Theatre Nottingham Youth Theatre (NYT) is the oldest established youth theatre in the city. It is open to anyone aged 13-19 in year 9+, with regular open auditions

The Nottingham Youth Theatre is the oldest established youth theatre in Nottingham. It is split into 2 groups: 13-19 and Inclusive, which meet weekly on Tuesdays for workshop sessions and more often during production time. In addition to this the groups make visits to performances and have workshops from visiting professional practitioners, some of whom are former members of the company. The 13-19

Group

The 13-19 group meets every week of the year (excluding Christmas week) and produces a wide range of performance pieces including musical and music theatre, street theatre, classic and modern plays, adaptations and commissioned items. There are also opportunities for members who have written their own pieces to have them performed by the group in a professional theatre setting. The Inclusive Group
Since 1989, the Company has had a long-standing commitment to inclusion of young people with severe and moderate learning difficulties. Under the direction of David Stewart, Glenys Clifton, Margaret Stannard and Maria Brawn the work of the inclusive company has grown from strength to strength. An early Fringe First award in '91 was followed by performances in a national Polish Festival and commissioned performances across the UK at conferences and events. The team of staff have been very consistent over the years with a core of committed and enthusiastic tutors.

29/09/2020

Hello all, as you may know NYT is entirely run by volunteers and any money we make goes directly back into the company. As such, it’s taken us a little longer to get ready to reopen. The original plan was to open Tuesday October 6th. However, because of the rise in COVID-19 cases and to protect both our members and our hard working volunteers and their families, we’ve made the decision to take an extended hiatus until at least the start of next year. We are lucky to have no overheads so we feel safe to take this long break and still be able to reopen when the time is right. Watch this space for further updates. Please look after yourselves and support the arts in this difficult time.
