NCMF welcomes renowned contemporary violinist — described by The Strad as a “new music wizard” — for a special Salon‑style concert at the Grade II* listed The People's Hall Nottingham on July 11th.

You might remember Darragh from his NCMF appearance five years ago with the Fidelio Trio. A boundary-hopping musician, he’s equally at home as a soloist with orchestras, leading ensembles, or performing on period instruments. Now he returns with his solo programme Exploding Stars — a set where one violin becomes an entire universe. The concert features music by Philip Glass, Georg Philipp Telemann, and more, plus a special work for violin by Errollyn Wallen, Master of the King’s Music.

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: The People's Hall: Music for Violin

July 11th - NCMF welcomes renowned contemporary violinist Darragh Morgan — described by The Strad as a “New Music wizard” — for a special Salon style concert at the Grade II* listed The People’s Hall on Heathcoat Street. Back in the 18th century, Salon concerts were intimate gatherings where people heard live music up close. This concert brings that vibe into the present: part low fi, part hi fi, and all-immersive. And if you haven’t been to the People’s Hall before, you’re in for a treat, with an exclusive tour around the building before the concert.

July 10th - We’re pleased to introduce the baritone Marcus Farnsworth, who is one of the wonderful artists performing at . Many of you will already know Marcus as Director of the Southwell Music Festival, and we are excited that he will perform alongside the Villiers Quartet in a concert of Caroline Shaw’s “By & By” for voice and string quartet on July 10th at St Mary's Church, Nottingham.

Marcus performs in opera, concert and recital around the world. He has appeared as a principal artist with opera companies in the UK and abroad including English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Bergen National Opera, and Teatro Real Madrid.
