I’m seeing alot of mental health posts today and it’s great we are all speaking about it, but it makes me sad that people think it’s a problem solely with THEM when I think alot of what people are struggling with is a problem with the fu***ng society we live in.
Your stress, your anxiety, your exhaustion? Maybe it’s not your body working against you, maybe it’s not a YOU problem. Maybe it’s an understandable normal reaction to this insane world and the circumstances we are living in.
I teach about self care, I hold space for people, I teach people tools to navigate the difficulties in their life. But when does that stop being enough?
Because if things keep getting worse in terms of cost of living, tax, diesel whatever, how actually are we supposed to cope?
I don’t like to get political on my page, I try and promote positivity and I’m a massive believer in taking responsibility for your own mental health
But sometimes the way you’re feeling is literally out of your control
We are not supposed to live like this.
And I think we need to stop making people feel like they are failing at life because they’re struggling to cope with circumstances that are genuinely fu***ng difficult.
Yes, Journal. Breathe. Talk to someone. Do the things that help you feel a little more like yourself.
But also, question why we’re all so exhausted in the first place. Doing the inner work is important. Taking responsibility for ourselves is important.
But so is having enough money to live. Having time to rest. Feeling secure. Having access to justice. Being able to exist without constantly worrying about what happens if one more thing goes wrong.
We cannot keep asking individuals to fix themselves in response to a world that is making so many of us unwell.
But maybe today, instead of asking yourself “What’s wrong with me?” you could ask yourself “What am I carrying, and how much of it was ever mine to carry?”
You are allowed to struggle. You are allowed to be angry. You are allowed to acknowledge that things are hard without turning it into another opportunity for personal growth.
And if you’re feeling it too, you’re not alone. 🤎
